The Reactions of Seeking the Death Penalty for 9/11 Collaborators

Reuters published an article last night about the reactions the candidates had to the news that we would be seeking the death penalty through military tribunals for six terrorists who were involved with the 9/11 attacks. Here are the highlight, by candidate:

John McCain:

The front-runner for the Republican presidential
nomination, Arizona Sen. John McCain, said charges against the
alleged conspirators were long overdue.

"This is something that should have, in my view I'm sorry
that it's taken so long. Let's begin this process," McCain
said.

Barack Obama:

"Of course, we should ensure that the planners and
perpetrators of 9/11 are brought to justice, and the death
penalty is appropriate for whomever committed such heinous
crimes. But these trials will need to be above reproach," Obama
said.

"These trials are too important to be held in a flawed
military commission system that has failed to convict anyone of
a terrorist act since the 9-11 attacks and that has been
embroiled in legal challenges," he added
.

Got that? Sen. McCain believes the system works and the enemy combatants who have declared war on the United States under the structure of a terrorist organization should be tried in the military tribunals and have their sentences handed down accordingly. He believes that the terrorists who conspired to murder over 3,000 people on 9/11 should be given justice through the military tribunals that were created long ago to handle situations like these. Remember, these are terrorists who are not part of a traditional military organization for another nation, which would be treated with much different regard. He stands behind the solid system that we have in place for handling these situations.

On the other hand, you have Obama, who is essentially saying that the tribunal system is flawed, that the military and the authorizations that were set up to handle this situations, are incapable of doing so. He says that the system has failed to convict anyone of a terrorist act since 9/11, and technically that may be true since there have been no domestic terror attacks since 9/11. By playing word games and talking ill of our military and the justice system that we have in place, he is not doing anything to help the country. Rather, he is damaging our nation's reputation by deriding the system. Earlier in the article he suggests domestic courts and domestic military trials (i.e. like one of our soldiers would receive), but that is outrageous. Terrorist should in no way, shape or form, have the same rights as you or I. That is simply asinine to believe that people hell bent on destroying our way of life, court systems included, should be treated in the same manner a United States citizen enjoys. These monsters have an ongoing declaration of war with the United States and are not citizens (i.e. domestic terrorists) and therefore will and should be treated differently and the tribunal system is precisely where this matter should be handled. Obama is flat out wrong on this issue. To grant terrorists the rights of our citizens in domestic courts makes it that much easier for them to plot and commit attacks. I wouldn't exactly call our justice system expedient and rest assured, you'll see the ACLU and other groups flock to the aid of terrorists for their little political purposes, all the while endangering the public. It's a dangerous position and one that lacks any pure concept of the challenges we face in the fight against global Radical Islamic terrorism.

Death Penalty to Be Sought for 6 Terrorists with Ties to 9/11

The most notable of the six is Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, who was the mastermind of the attacks and 5 of his cronies who were instrumental in murdering over 3,000 people on September 11, 2001. Now, the six hardened and psychotic terrorists will finally be facing their rightful fate. As with many issues that are security related, how long before the liberal scourge comes charging to their defense? How long before the ACLU files suit for them? Liberal groups constantly attack the Bush Administration for a variety of outrageous charges while simultaneously espousing idiotic sentiments that somehow the terrorists are not, in fact, evil. It amazes me that people could possibly hold a view like this in today's world. People like KSM have made it their life's mission to murder innocents and to bring down the ways of Western society. It is not America, per say, that they have declared war upon. It is democracy, free speech, free assembly, women's rights, freedom of religion, etc. It's everything that we stand for as a nation. The Democratic Party, in general, can not understand this. They assail President Bush and use the left wing media as a means to bring themselves to power regardless of how it ultimately effects this nation. It becomes that much worse if they recognize that truth about Islamic radical terrorism, yet would choose to ignore this fact for the own political agenda. What that amounts to is psychological support for terrorists, undermining our nation's prestige and ability to hunt down and bring to justice the terrorists who are determined to end our way of life. These six soul-less monsters will go before a military tribunal and receive justice. We should be supporting our government and military with regard to this issue.

CIA Tapes: Manufactured Outrage

It's not really that shocking that the issue over the destruction of the tapes of interrogation processes is manufactured by the left. Please Michelle Malkin's excellent post in regards to what the Democrats knew and WHEN they knew it. Basically, they knew the tapes existed and were destroyed long before this story became the big rage among leftist media. If the issue is over waterboarding, it has also been long since revealed that waterboarding was only used on three suspects since the War on Terror began and has not been used since 2003. Ed, over at Captain's Quarters has another great post on this issue, in which this information is disclosed. However, an article by David Frum that is being overlooked is available at National Review and relays information and very intriguing possibility put forth by Gerald Posner. Here's a sample:

Zubaydah, wounded when he was captured in Pakistan, was fooled in a fake flag operation to believe that the Saudis held him. Instead of being afraid of the ‘Saudis,’ he demanded to talk to three Saudi princes (one, the nephew of the King, who happened to be in the U.S. on 9/11). He gave his interrogators the private cell phone numbers of all 3. He did the same regarding the chief of Pakistan's air force.

After the U.S. told the Saudis and Pakistanis of Zubaydah's finger pointing, all four men had tragic 'accidents.' The King's nephew died of complications from liposuction at the age of 43. A day later, the 41 year old Prince named by Zubaydah died in a one-car accident on his way to the funeral of the King’s nephew. The third named prince, age 25, died a week later of "thirst," according to the Saudi Royal Court. And shortly after that, the chief of Pakistan’s air force died when his plane exploded with his wife and 15 of his top aides on board.

Very interesting read and one definitely worth a full read. So what he have is a situation where even the idea of destroying the tapes was presented to top Democrats in Congress and were kept in the loop on the happenings of the tapes. The outrage now is purely political in regards not only to the issue, but of the timing. However, if Posner is right, it opens a Pandora's Box of issues in regards to just who our allies are in the Middle East.

Slovak Authorities Stop the Sale of Uranium For Use in Dirty Bomb

At the time of this posting, CNN and CBS do not even mention the story on the front page, ABC has it on a small link on the left hand side, surprisingly MSNBC has a rather large text link, but at least Fox has it prominent on their website. God forbid the lefties make a solid mention of this story that at the minimum is very disturbing and at worst cause for major, major alarm. Here's a link the story and here's an excerpt:

"Police were watching the sellers as well as the buyers," Kopcik said. He refused to give more information on the buyers however. The radioactive material was due to be sold for 3,500 dollars a gramme, he added, giving a total price of about 1.6 million dollars (one million euros).

It is the latest in a series of cases involving the sale of radioactive material in Slovakia and the neighbouring Czech Republic.

In 2004, two former Slovak army officers were found guilty by a Czech court of attempting to sell uranium. The two were arrested at a hotel outside Brno in November 2003 after they tried to sell three kilogrammes (6.5 pounds) of the substance.

Refused to give more information on they buyers? That would be extremely relevant, would it not? Remember the Czech's report and their adamant stance that Mohammad Atta was in the Czech Republic prior to the 9/11 attacks? They also said they had evidence that could prove an Iraqi Intelligence officer met with Atta in Prague. The left worked hard to discredit this story even intentionally printing fabrications about what President Havel has said. Read this article for a refresher. The Czech Republic and Slovokia have been taking an active role in the war on terror from the outset, very away of the problem radical Islam has posed. Keep in mind also that the EU has a history of trying to be politically correct to fault, even going so far as trying to hide from the rest of the world that radical Islamists are the ones rioting in the streets of France, firing at police, and being a destructive hoard in general. The importance of this of course, is to show the track record that the EU has of trying to use terms other than Islamic radicals, even the Heathrow attack this year was described by the British as "Asians." The Czechs have been pro-active in helping us in the War on Terror as have the Slovaks. So I'll go out on a limb here:

Sellers: Former military or science officials from former Soviet Bloc nations.

Buyers: Current members of Islam

Any takers? So here's the suppression that will take place, the leftist media won't have the stones to put this out there that radical Islamists came damn close to acquiring materials for a dirty bomb, or else they validate what President Bush has been telling us for so long. They also risk violating their own self policing of being politically correct. They also fail to recognize that is entirely feasible these two attempted acquisitions were not the only ones and that they have secured plutonium or uranium already. Evidence be damned, the Leftists need to paint the world the way they see it, even if innocents are killed and laws are violated to do so.
