Venezuelans Getting Sick of Liberal's Hero Hugo Chavez

More protests in Venezuela against socialist wackjob and hero of America's left wing, Hugo Chavez. Chavez, as is well documented, is a socialist dictator who is idolized by liberals in our nation even as he destroys democracy and attempts to push himself into being a hardcore dictator while seeking to ally himself with nations who seek to undermine American security issues, Iran, and Russia, for example. Well, surprise, surprise, the Venezuelan people are sick of his anti-freedom, pro-socialist policies that have been hailed by many a Democat. Some of these policies you may recognize as being platforms of America's "Progressive Caucus" which is running the Democrat Party and has found their way onto Obama's platform:

"We said in the referendum that we didn't want that, and now he's put it in the decrees," said protester Josefina Bravo, a 59-year-old who wore a sticker reading "No means no" on her baseball cap. "That's the problem we have: All the powers are concentrated in the president."

One decree establishes a civilian militia that critics warn could emulate the citizen groups that control many aspects of community life in Cuba. Another gives Chavez the ability to designate regional authorities who critics say could undermine the power of locally elected officials.

Other decrees empower Chavez to expropriate goods from private businesses and increase state control over food, punishing business owners who fail to comply with price controls or other regulations with fines, closure and even 10-year prison terms.

A concentration of power within the federal government, the ability of the government to set price controls, redistribution of wealth, a gigantic bureaucracy, cracking down on the power of local governments which allows for greater control by the people, these are all things the left endears. The American left has different means to this end, such as eliminating the right to a secret ballot in order to force workers to form unions, who have pledged to fuel the Liberal machine with newly enforced and collected union dues. If workers want to unionize, that's fine, but the right a secret ballot is paramount to a democracy. This sort of thuggery and intimidation has no place in America.

Let me conclude by commending the people of Venezuela for standing up for the rights. We ought to stand tall with them, American foreign policy needs to strongly stand for freedom and condemn actions by nations that suppress the rights of people and continue to oppress them. One of the questions you should ask yourself as we head into a new round of elections is whether the person you intent to cast your vote for will actually stand up and speak loudly against the actions of these types of offenders.

Do some Google searches, check Daily Kos (the moonbat lunatics who you can practially see pulling Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid's strings), look at all the idiot liberals in Hollywood who love Hugo Chavez. Don't fool yourself, Obama is no centrist, he's a hardened leftwing politician who has already pledged to go after private industries and have the government seize their profits, like Chavez. You really ought to read up on his plan to pay off other thugs and corrupt nations through his global tax plan that puts to focus on giving away our tax dollars to the United Nations to help "rebuild" America's image. This is the man's politics. That's why, even today, he bad mouthed America to a young child.

Freedom is our greatest asset in our daily lives, it's time we stop pissing it away by handing power to socialist style big government politicians. About six months ago I thought Hillary Clinton was extremely to left in American politics. Thanks to Barack Obama, I now know that she was centrist in her party as evidenced by just how far to left Barack Obama's political views are. Obama can go through the motions and give his little speeches all he wants, but when it comes down to it, when you compare his views , voting record, and ideas to what Chavez's views and ideas are, they are not too far apart. Hell, he's even talked about a "civilian national security force". Oh he stands for a change alright, much like the Bolsheviks stood for change in Russia.

The Cult of Obama Gets Even Creepier

Be sure to read this downright creepy article from US News and World Report. I really was hoping that this was some sort of satire, but it's not. US News and World Report isn't The Onion. Obama's supporters are getting weirder by the day. They view him in Messianic terms and considerably irrational when it comes to his candidacy, often taking it extremely personal when you challenge his positions, much like does, though he pulled no punches today when he took it upon himself to bad mouth America when a little girl asked him why he was running for president. Anyway, here's some take away snippets from the article:

"We thought, 'Let's try and start a movement where even while walking down the street, people would hold up the O and you would know that they were for Obama,' " says Husong.

"We want to see it everywhere, but more importantly we want this sign to take the world by storm."

A couple in Lansdale, PA was busted after going on an 18 month house-egging spree. That's got to be a record, congratulations to my beloved Commonwealth of Pennsylvania! I live in Easton, PA and I have a friend who lives in Lansdale, PA, about an hour south of here. I know the area and the surrounding area. There's really not much to do there, but this couple has taken to ending their boredom with the area and found a unique activity to share in together. I know there has to be some Kodak moments of their activities. Like I said, I know that area, I can guarantee it. Let's just hope they supported their local farmers and economy (of which there are plenty down there) by buying local eggs. I often would joke about the area to my buddy about how mind numbingly bored I'd get there...and Easton isn't exactly NYC. The next conversation I have with him will be quite interesting for sure. Personally, I hope they make these two clean up every single house in the Landsdale area over the last 18 months, it's only right. No mention, by the way, of how old they are. I'd love to think they were 18 or 19, but knowing the area, they could have been in their 50s.

Ice on Mars!

Not my usual topic to be sure, but damn exciting. I know some people may not get worked up about ice being found on another planet that obviously isn't supporting life, but this has got to be one of the greatest discoveries of all time. I'll admit that since this latest expdition started, I've imagined being on the planet looking around at nothingness and being to explore the planet. I don't know if we'll be alive by the time a manned expedition gets over there (50 years from now I'll be 80, suddenly I don't feel so old), but with the advance of robotics and technological advances, dare I say, there may one day in my lifetime be a completely robotics operated station on Mars which will eventually become manned? Say, 500 years or sooner before people are actually living there in controlled man made habitats? I know we're looking at that possibility on the moon someday and we're looking at more manned missions there as well. Yea, this is a kid like post from me (a worded daydream if you will), nothing like I usually do (though I guess some may argue otherwise) but, damn, this is amazing!

Why No Mention of Obamagirl?

If the moonbats want to go out there and state as Allahpundit is saying, that putting pictures of white women around Obama somehow suggests racism, why isn't everyone pointing to Obamagirl? That's what got him his national exposure more so than his speech at the convention did. Most people aren't into politics like that to remember that speech but sticking that skank in a video with him sure did. Their real worry is that the image of the trainwrecks like Paris Hilton and Brittney Spears is going to stick. Adverstisers have known for decades that sex sells, so what goes around comes around.

Who's the real racist here? Everyone who criticizes Obama and doesn't intent to support him is a racist, regardless of how horrible they think his ideas are? When he was out bashing people from my Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as bitter, gun-clingers, who believe in God, who do you think he was taking a shot at? Who was the one talking about Hillary Clinton's "claws" and mocked her as "Annie Oakley" when she talked about her support of the Second Amendment (which, of course, was a lie)? Who's the one whose surrogates throw racial bombs at everyone? Are we really to believe that Rev. Wright was correct and that if Bill would have dropped an N-bomb on Hillary that Obama's candidacy would have been for not?

What this really shows is that Obama is extremely insecure and has a terribly, terribly weak glass jaw. One of these days his cockiness is going to make him stick it out there and someone is going to shatter it. Let's hope its before the election and McCain does it, lest it be Iran or some terrorist organization.

Seriously, how do you explain this?

Notice the uneasy laughter by one person in the crowd. He's not serious, he's got to be making a joke, he has to be. If his answer to the energy crisis is to inflate tires and change spark plugs he must have stopped learning about the oil market right about the time he got his driver's license. He can't honestly think that:
1. Inflating your tires and changing spark plugs is a true solution. What's he doing reading the "Lifestyle" section of his newspaper under the tips column for his briefings?
2. That the 3% efficiency increase from properly inflated tires is the same as getting a slew of new oil to the market place. Domestically produced oil that will help get us off of foreign oil, reduce our deficit, and strengthen our dollar, which in turn will increase the buying power of all Americans.
3. Shale oil is myth. He has to know we have enough shale oil to run our nation at our current consumption levels to supply us for 100 years.
4. That people are really that stupid that they never check their tire pressure at all.

I could go on forever here, but you get the drift. That is honestly one of the stupidest statements I've heard a politician make in years. But alas, when you've got the media as your groupies, no one is going to press the issue, and hey, if his highly complex, tire inflating solution fails, there's always his Plan B, so simply a child could do it:

That's the more appropriate theme song for Obama's campaign as yet another one of Obama's vocal supports gets hucked under the bus, this time it's Ludacris, who had the audacity to hope that he could Hillary Clinton a bitch and hope the John McCain would be paralyzed in the latest lyrical score he wrote on the back of napkin and then recorded. Stay classy Ludacris. Oh well, we all look forward to your improptu concerts coming soon to a grocery store parking lot near us. Actually, he owes Obama a big one, his star on the hip hop walk of fame has long since faded, so hey, at least he got a headline.

Which brings me to a larger point, there obviously can't be any more room under Obama's bus, what with Wright, Pfleger, Ayers, the entire nation of Israel, Muslims, etc, etc. Not that he has anything to worry about, after all he's like the old man who throws bread crumbs at the pigeons and the pigeons of course, represent the media. Hell, he could karate chop a baby and his minions in the press would cover for him. But alas, back to my greater point. No, this isn't a bus people are getting thrown under....it's a Monster Truck. The Democrats are attempting to give our economy a lobotomy. Even worse, they are pursuing tremendously hurtful policies during a difficult economic time, a time when we can least afford this kind of chicanery. Al Gore, perhaps sensing a disturbance in his investment income, has been popping up more and more talking about how horrible oil is. Yes, the same industry that has allowed us to develop into the strongest nation on the face of the earth, the same one the gets us to work every day, the one that heats our homes, etc, ever since people have become even more acutely aware that our reluctance to drill here at home is killing us at the pump and in the world economy as our dollar further devalues.

Before I proceed from here, you should really see the highlights of Al Gore's "major" speak on the dangers of losing his cash cow, er, I mean carbon based energy. Here it is, presented by Americans For Prosperity:

Al Gore is completely off his rocker and has been for quite some time. Why, he's even compared offshore drilling to the Iraq invasion. Which of course is nothing like the invasion of Iraq. In fact, you'd think if the point he was trying to make was to be more responsible in international affairs and leave nations to their own accord, the our energy self sufficiency would include us drilling here at home. Or maybe he's referencing the point that nations like Iran are much better stewards of the environment and have better and more cleaner technologies to pump oil than we do here in America. Oh right, he's completely and utterly insane and wrong.

Democrats and Liberals have no regard for the common man. Rather than being sensible and recognizing that we will need oil and natural gas supplies for at least 25 years (at absolute minimum) to be able to move away from using gas in our cars, etc, and seeking to blend energy forms as we do journey down that path, they could care less if you could afford to do so. They could care less if you couldn't afford to buy a new car that ran on hydrogen and we had no gas tomorrow. They could care less if you got to work and if you could afford to do so, well then they would just raise your taxes up to the point where you couldn't anymore.

Sounds like an exaggeration right? Well re-visit that clip where the guy in the AFP video is completely happy about gas going up to about $8 a gallon for the "common good." But that's OK, right, my green comrades? That's the Democrats energy policy in a nutshell. Don't think arugula lover Barack Obama has a problem with this. He just wishes it was a slower rise in the price of gas, but the price? Completely cool with it. So don't act so shocked when the Congressional Democrats are crowing about high energy prices and aren't doing jack to raise the supplies are focused on raising one thing....your gasoline tax by 50%, and they're moving to do it quickly.

One More Step Towards Winning the Iraq War

It's pretty inevitable now that we're going to be declare true victory in Iraq, with the Iraqi people being the true winners in the war. Yes, the GOP has been dragging the Democrats toward victory in Iraq, kicking and screaming as it were, and now we've reached another huge milestone in Iraq. Today, the Sunni bloc officially rejoined the new Iraqi government. This is a tremendous development and yet another key sign that the war is drawing to a close. Bringing the Sunnis back in is a huge victory for al Maliki and the Iraqis. As it is clearly obvious to any honest observer, the surge has been tremendously successful.

John McCain, the Republican nominee for president, deserves a great amount of credit for calling for Rumsfeld's ouster after he did not initiate a build up of troops after the amount of violence greatly increased upon our taking of Baghdad. Rumsfeld, though, orchestrated a incredible ground invasion that was lighting quick, however, his dealings with the insurgency were his downfall, as he did not listen to the commanders on the ground. Upon the implementation of the surge we have seen the utter demolition of al Qaeda in Iraq, the build up of the Iraqi security forces, deals on oil contracts and economic policies, a dramatic reduction in violence with lower American and Iraqi casualties, the Mahdi Army's disembowelment, etc. The surge has worked greatly.

The question, then, is where do we go from here? Certainly not to withdrawal and leave Iraq to fall back into chaos. The way leave Iraq victorious is clear. We must continue to train Iraqi security forces in order to become even more capable of defending themselves and provide for the security of the Iraqi people. The American ground forces can be withdrawn as the Iraqi forces are built up. Certainly, Iraq will need our logistical and air support as those networks are built up, but as American casualties continue to fall, the swell in support here at home will continue to draw. As Iraq develops these capabilities, we continue to withdrawal our troops until Iraq is completely self sufficient or until they ask us to leave completely.

Political solutions are entirely left to the Iraqis. We cannot force Iraq to implement laws and rule that we are forcing upon them, this is not our mission, nor should it. The Iraqis have their own unique needs and wants, and we must leave it up to them to decide their own fate. The way to ensure that they do is to provide security in the interim while they choose their policies. This is the mission that we are seeking to complete.

Despite what Obama is currently saying, he completely opposed the surge of forces in Iraq that created the current situation. His current visit to Iraq is a disgusting way to try to score cheap political points. In the years between his first and now current visit, Obama lacked the courage to go to Iraq when things were looking bleak and his own personal security may have been at risk. That utter lack of courage is highlighted even more so when you consider the number of Republicans and Democrats who went to Iraq during the times of extreme violence regardless of their opinions on the war. Obama's lack of leadership and courage are on full display, this is not a man who should be leading our nation.

Finally, I just want to touch on the irony of the situation. The Liberals refused to support Iraq when thing were bleak and made much of the fact that we essentially went into Iraq as the leaders of a small coalition. Fast forward to present day and our path to victory is clear and no longer deniable, even to the most ardent of Liberals and even after some of allies left Iraq. It was under our leadership, our forces, that a conflict that started out so bleak turned the corner. On the other hand, the Afghan conflict, led by NATO, which started out so well and now falters under NATO's lead and internal positioning, is the conflict supported by the Left. They constantly labeled this conflict as "the good conflict," and is now the more dangerous of the two missions. I commend those calling for a similar surge in Afghanistan, but even as they do so, they highlight with even greater emphasis the success Gen. Petraeus and President Bush have secured in Iraq. We can not lose either of these conflicts, and for as great as an importance as it is to America, it is of an even more, exponential importance to the people of Iraq and Afghanistan that we finish the mission and leave these nations with the necessary, domestic security forces, for them to protect themselves.

Democrats, Ethanol, Devastate the Gulf Coast

The Dead Zone at the base of the Mississippi is larger than ever thanks the Democrats' ethanol mandate and is wiping out wild life while stuffing the pockets of the Democrats and their favorite pet project investors. For all the complaining that the Democrats do about oil, not even the Exxon Valdez disaster has has this much of a drastic impact, spreading so rapidly, and threatening to do even more devastation in such a short period of time. Remember who they blasted those who opposed their ethanol subsidies and how they chide oil as being irresponsible? Where again is there an ever increasing oil spill that is destroying not just wildlife, but other industries within our borders? For that matter, seeing as how the Democrats have killed off all life in an area the size of New Jersey in the Gulf of Mexico, what again is their opposition to off shore drilling there? Hate to tell I told you so about ethanol in general and the Democrats in general, but...wait, no actually I enjoy that part. The Dead Zone and the Democrats reckless ways? Not so much.

Obama and his Surrogates Hateful Insinuendo

Obama and his idol worhiping legionnaires love making suggestions about their opponents. You'll recall his overt sexism during his race and now his blatant ageism against McCain, specifically by his and his worshipers constant use of the term "confused." Personally I don't get it and I'd like to do my part and shoot down some rumors about Obama, you know, to be helpful.

First of all, I don't know why these ideas always seem to be coming home to roost on left when they talk about equality and change, which they obviously don't truly believe in. Now don't get me wrong, I think smear against Obama are horrible, especially when it comes to religion. I have no doubt that Obama believes strongly in God, so strongly that he may even pray three times a day, at sunrise and sunset I'm sure. Perhaps out of his love for the environment he may even pray towards the direction the sun is currently sitting in when he prays.

Now, he talks about confusion but there is no confusion about Bill Ayers and his cohorts. No, he has no regrets against bombing the government and wishing he could have done more, and he wouldn't even bat an eye to do so. We've also heard the hurtful things that Jesse Jackson has threatened to do to Obama, and really, that's not cool at all. Bill Clinton even has called for Obama to "kiss his ass" and that's wrong. Why these three are so hateful, some sort of vengeful Trinity, if you will, is beyond me.

In conclusion let me just say that a total lack of experience of understanding of the issues is not Obama's fault. He's simply been campaigning since he first won an elected office, so learning about the issues and hearing things that he doesn't know, and doesn't recall being what he knew, is simply a distraction. He's not flip flopping when he says one thing and does another. In fact, his judgement to lead has been so exceptional that he has the foresight to see that the green policies he enacts will be so environmentally friendly that it precipitates a withdrawal from Iraq before the Democratic Congress can snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. And that...is change he can believe in.

Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi Should Be Haunting You at the Pump

President Bush did the right thing by lifting the executive ban on offshore drilling. We desperately need more supplies of oil and natural gas, whether they be found off shore, inland, above ground, or underground. We have the technology and resources to begin to move away from being held hostage by foreign nations, yet the Democrats, who are funded and run by enviro-nutjobs and their pet projects they invest in, refuse to recognize reality or economics.

We will not be "off of oil" within the next 15 years. It won't happen. We need oil for homes, automobiles, plastics, and many other vitally important things. As we move to other sources, we will need to have oil, and we should be producing it here at home, be it for national security, strengthening the dollar, stopping interruption flows (be it from foreign strikes or terrorist attacks), etc. In fact, the public is fully behind the efforts to begin drilling here at home. Please reference this article. The rise in support for domestic drilling is growing exponentially.

A fact sheet that was recently brought to my attention is an excellent source of information and shoots down the concerns of the average environmentalist, who basically has no idea what they are talking about nor the facts to back up their outrageous claims. Congress, of course, under the direction of uber Left Wingers Reid and Pelosi are trying to stop this effort to become self sufficient and more secure in our energy needs. Contrary to Reid's belief that Oil "makes us sick" or the Dems policy of "drive small cars and wait for the wind" Americans know the reality that they do not. To Harry Reid's point, it's not Global Warming that's making us sick, it is him and his cronies in Congress. Even as we develop more sources of energy and increase efficiency, energy supplies such as coal, oil, and natural gas, are abundant, can be clean, and begin to hit the market place much faster and have a much more dramatic impact as sources such as wind, solar, etc are developed and brought into the fold as well.

Energy solutions should be regionally based. Pennsylvania, Alaska, West Virginia, Ohio, Kentucky, Colorado, North Dakota, and Utah have abundant sources of natural gas that can be tapped and begin to be used. Louisiana and Florida, for example can safely extract oil offshore. These are real solutions which can impact us now, and if we move on it NOW, then we will see results. It is not coincidence that as President Bush lifted the executive ban on drilling, prices dropped nearly $9. Let's see if the morons in Congress actually care about the people of America and hold up their end of the deal.

The Democrats reckless policies concerning ethanol and thier refusal to allow for more domestic drilling of the last decade, and even now, have caused a gigantic leap in oil prices. Anyone up for giving these hacks another shot a congress and giving them the presidency on top of it? If so, please research Jimmy Carter's term a bit more and prepare for the pain.

Mixed Feelings on the FISA Bill

The Telecom Surveillance Bill, which passed with a wide margin today, has mixed implications for the American people. The element of the bill which would give immunity to the telecommunications companies who had helped the government in its surveillance of suspected terrorists should have only been applied to the cases before the evidence of the practice became public. The telecommunications companies were told by federal authorities that the wireless tapping was acceptable and necessary to protect America from future terrorist attacks and undoubtedly there was intelligence gathered that did in fact protect our nation from further harm.

However, the protection from civil lawsuits going forward should have been stripped from this bill. That may sound like it runs counter from the information in the preceding paragraph, but there is a distinction that needs to me made. Originally, when the program was run in secrecy, corporations were told that they would not face civil or criminal repercussions for their assistance with the program. If that is what they were told and had operated under that philosophy, with assurances from the White House, then they should have been granted immunity as this bill did provide. However, going forward, the implications can be grave.

Monitoring suspected terrorists’ communications is essential to national defense; there is no arguing that point. However, the text of the bill does not limit the scope to suspected terrorists, rather, that the government simply needs to have reasonable belief that one party is overseas. One can easily see how this could lead to far reaching abuses and lead to a domestic spying program to be utilized for political purposes as opposed to national defense reasons. Whether or not you trust the current Administration should not factor into the evaluation when determining the validity of granted future immunity to the companies involved. Subsequent administrations and political operatives who one day will run the nation will also have authorization to utilize this program.

The bill, does however, provide for an emergency tap to be utilized and then give the government up to one week to get a court order in order to use the information. This is a very careful dance on civil liberties. Shielding the telecoms from lawsuits from violations of this law going forward presents and opportunity for them to do corporate spying as well, as rest assured, they will be monitoring communications as well. It also makes them somewhat “bullet-proof” and will provide a temptation for them and the government to commit violations of the provisions within the bill.

Will that happen? The likelihood not severe, but it is a possibility and one that should be in the front of people’s minds when discussing these issues and formulating opinions. In the digital age, striking a balance between national defense and protecting civil liberties is a difficult task. This is especially true when battling an enemy which has time and again shown no regard for civil liberties, freedom, democracy, or human life. It is paramount that we protect ourselves. Giving blanket protection to the telecom industries and the political parties charged with safekeeping the program and our personal data and communications going forward may well prove to be a costly mistake. Philadelphia Assaults Second Amendment...Knows It Is Unconstitutional

Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter has forged ahead with a plan to hold law abiding citizens responsible for crimes committed by those who do not abide by the law. Under Philadelphia’s new gun law, one which the Philadelphia DA says is not constitutional. No matter, though, the city plans to forge ahead anyway. The fine will be $1,900 for not reporting the lost gun within 30 days of knowing that it is lost. You can find the article here.

Besides the obvious problem of punishing private, innocent citizens for the actions of others (i.e. most guns that are “lost” are actually stolen), this comes on the heels of the Heller decision which upholds the rights on an individual’s right to bear arms. Mayor Nutter has been briefed by the DA that this law, as well as others that Philadelphia is seeking to institute, are in violation of the Constitution. Additionally, this also poses an issue in determining when a gun is lost. If one does not report the gun lost within 30 days of knowing it is lost, how exactly does the city go about proving that the owner knew for more than 30 days that the gun was lost at all? There is no way of proving that time frame except for the word of the owner in the first place. So in addition to being a violation of the Second Amendment, the law is going to enforced arbitrarily and result in an excess fine.

Additionally, one must also consider the fact that if a gun is stolen during a break in; one must reasonably assume that the gun was secondary in the theft. Identity theft is a complete nightmare, unfortunately a reality for many, and is a difficult problem in which to find a resolution. It should not be a punishable offense if the victim of break-in were to focus on securing their financial accounts, credit, social security number, etc, and place the emphasis on those issues rather than focusing on material items, which of course, can be replaced through private insurance. Dealing with crimes of this nature is extremely traumatic and takes considerable time. To further exacerbate the after effects of being the victim of crime through unconstitutional laws is wholly irresponsible and reckless.

There is no disputing that Philadelphia has many problems and that violent crime has been on the rise. The failings of former Mayor John Street are just a part of the root cause of this increase in violence. The criminals are the problem in Philadelphia and rather than combating the criminal element, the city is seeking to scapegoat law abiding citizens and blame the people and the not the failings of the politicians who run the city for the woes that they face. Rather than going after citizens who are not breaking the law for exercising their Constitutional rights to bear arms, they ought to look in the mirror and begin to enact and enforce laws that will confront the criminal element directly.

I would like to wish each and every one of you a very happy Independence Day! Today is a day to reflect on everything that makes America great. A day to remember our break from tyranny and the creation of new form of government, one that values individual freedoms, maximizes liberty, is not oppressive in taxation, and allows each individual to pursue their own dreams in freedom. Assuredly we have not reached this point completely as of yet, the ideals that our Founding Fathers envisioned for us, but we, the American people must strive hard to perfect our union, and allow liberty to flourish within our Republic, and take a stronger stance to fight for these ideals.

We should take time today to be with friends and family, to remember all the sacrifices that our ancestors have given so that we may have a chance to chase the American dream. We should recollect on the spirit of freedom that blossomed into the American Revolution, the likes of which the world had never seen before. We should honor and thank our veterans for fighting for our rights and giving the ultimate sacrifice for every one of us, remembering they gave voluntary service in order protect the masses that did not have the privilege of knowing them personally. We should remember that the fireworks are an illustration in that they provide a representation of Francis Scott Key’s work, our National Anthem, that even through the horrors of war, the lights of the explosions gave hope and inspiration that our Flag was still waving, and that we were still free. I wish you all the best today, I give thanks to those that came before me and reaffirm my beliefs in freedom and liberty. God Bless.

Ah, The Inevitable Conclusion for the Liberals

Yes, inevitably we’d see the Dems getting mad about rising oil prices but not for the same reasons as you, I, and rational people everywhere. While people like Obama are fine with rising gas costs (remember, he’s not mad gas it’s at $4.00 a gallon, he’s just upset that it wasn’t “gradual”), and the Democrats lunatic fear of carbon dioxide in general, this should be a good thing for them that demand and use are down a little. But of course, Dems are concerned with the one thing Dems are always concerned about. Tax and fine revenues.
Two cases in point. Buried a ways down in this story from CNN about Americans driving a little bit less is this gem:

Peters expressed concern that the cutbacks have resulted in the collection of fewer taxes on gasoline. Such taxes are funneled to the federal Highway Trust Fund, which gets 18.4 cents per gallon from gasoline and 24.4 cents per gallon from diesel fuel.

Therein lays the real problem for Liberals everywhere. They’re not getting enough TAXES. Not to worry though, keep in mind that John Conyers (D…..of course) has already greased the wheels for 50 CENT PER GALLON TAX HIKE, on undoubtedly the Dems will push should they take Congress and the White House in the Fall. Not be outdone is point #2. Local and state governments are now slapping “fuel surcharges” on traffic fines and tickets, even as they use those insidious cameras to track down the real criminals in society, the people who go 5 mph over the speed limit or go through a yellow light. It’s all about that tax money for Democrats, never about cutting the budget or pork or unnecessary programs. They can’t even fathom the notion. They can’t even fathom the notion that it’s the citizens who are paying for these revenues.

Green Really Is the New Reds. Democratic More Asinine With Every Passing Day

It’s clear just how far to the left Congress truly is. Now we have a second Democrat calling for the nationalization of the oil industry, this time it’s Maurice Hinchey of NY (you’ll recall of course Maxine Walters’ own call for nationalization in the past). So what gives with the Democrats oil policy? Well for starters they hide behind a global warming hoax in order to divert investments into their pet investment projects in order to make a quick buck while demonizing the competition (something they have an extremely long history of doing) as an attempt to monopolize their favored industries.

What’s scary about this is that this is really what most Democrats feel, and I’m sure Obama does as well, yet the media is so far in the tank for these guys that they won’t even call them out for it. In what sense does a promotion of nationalization of industries such as oil and health care not scream “SOCIALISM!” as it is the same path that Hugo Chavez took Venezuela down. Not surprisingly, they weren’t too upset when that happened and they STILL insist Chavez is some sort of good guy. They refuse to allow for increased domestic drilling and supply concerns when even today we see the dangers that we face by being forced to import our oil as Shell had to shut down one of their off shore operations due to rebel attacks. It is simply insane to forgo domestic increases in supply and refining capacity in the private sector.

Besides overall cost benefits, think of how dramatically this would impact our economy. How many jobs would be created, how far would the trade deficit shrink and re-strengthen our dollar, etc? Critics say that it will take at least 7 years for the oil to hit the market place, but even at 7 years, had we gone ahead and started producing oil from ANWR and other sources back when first considered, then we’d have about 1 million extra barrels of domestic oil in the market place today. There are many sources we can tap into but can’t because the Democrats have consistently blocked the attempts to develop American industry.

Recognizing the need for alternative sources of energy, even under optimum circumstances we will not be completely oil free for at least 30 years and probably never. Why? Because we will always have need for oil for older automobiles (not everyone can simply afford to buy new cars) and for things like plastics, etc. Sure the demand will be lower, but in what way is it bad that if our demand keeps dropping as we develop more energy sources that at some point with the start of increased domestic capacity that we could be self sufficient in this realm? Face reality Dems.

It appears that Sen. Christopher Dodd is not only the recipient of an outrageous loan from Countrywide, he’s also hell bent on making us taxpayers bail his friends out. Now, as you can tell, I’m very much a proponent of the free market and my feelings on the mortgage situation is well documented on this site. What Dodd is doing here is utterly despicable.
In the first place, he sought out and received an improper loan from a corporation by using his political office as leverage, something for which he should be booted from office for in the first place. This is a man whom the hard left hailed as a hero during his short lived presidential campaign and it’s not surprising. In addition to unethical actions, he is now seeking to force responsible Americans to bail out irresponsible lenders and borrowers alike. This has nothing to do with fixing the housing market and has everything to do with a CYOA approach employed by Dodd. Read the whole aforementioned story by the Wall Street Journal, it’s sure to raise eyebrows.

How deep are the Democrats in the pockets and how dirty are they on this? Please reference the stories here and here, via Hot Air about Obama’s ties to Countrywide and his demonizing rhetoric on the company while at the same basking in their undying support, so much so that Dodd and the head of Obama’s VP search time both have filthy hands with regard to this scandal. GOP Stops Democratic Bill to Committ Economic Suicide

We dodged a huge bullet today, but I really wonder for how long we'll be able to hold this idiotic, already tried and failed, "windfall" tax on oil profits. There's a multitude of issues that are at stake here and the Dems are playing this out as only the socialists can. Only one Dem voted against proceeding with the bill, Mary Landrieu of LA, and only because she's up for re-election in Louisiana, and she's a big target for the GOP this fall. Here are just a few problems with this bill:

1. Market Manipulation. True, Morgan Stanley did the entire free market dirty on Friday by purposely saying they believed oil would go to 150 after getting jittery when the price per barrel went down to about 122 last Thursday. It shot up to nearly 140, surely something that needs to investigated. However, their proposal to transfer oil company profits to the industries that are funding the Democratic Party's election bids is nothing more than a kick back and artificial inflation of the stock prices of many solar, wind, and geothermal companies. A clear market manipulating tactic and obvious kick back.

2. Free Market Violation. In every regard. The oil companies should not be forced to invest their profits into the companies that Congress picks. This is not Venezuela. That's pure Marxist tactics. It also does not allow for further drilling and oil exploration of domestic sources to expand supply. It's true that we do not operate under a free market system and we are subject to a cartel in the form of OPEC. It should also be noted that because of this any drops in demand as the Dems and radical greens are promoting can simply be met by a drop in supply by the oil cartel in order to keep prices high. A short term increase in supply would be more effective, but only if demand also lowers. Hence, domestic expansion and releasing us from OPEC's clutches while developing more fuel efficient technologies is the best way forward while simultaneously developing alternative sources in the free market. Just look at car lots. The market is working, there are more SUVs on the lots, car sales defeated truck sales for the first time in a very long time, and that was the free market.

3. The Cost of the Tax Will Be Shifted To the Consumer. We already know that production will fall in the US and that oil companies will be less apt to develop more sources, but it's also painfully obvious that an increase in taxes will simply be shifted to the consumer. History holds this to be true.

4. No Long Term Solution. Politicians from both parties like to go out and talk of breaking our dependence on foreign sources, yet we still refuse to develop more sources here at home, which are vast and numerous. Between oil, natural gas, coal, and nuclear, we have many sources that would be able to be utilized in the short term (say 20 years) as the market moves to increases in nuclear, solar, hydrogen, etc. Many politicians throw out a five-year plan type of deal, but that's a lie, and they know it. We will have demand for oil forever, albeit much lower in the future. People will still want to utilize their vintage cars, many cars 20 years old are still operational, etc. Even assuming that we were to be "oil-free" in five years, at what cost would the government shell out to replace every single oil consuming vehicle. Do you really think middle and low income families can afford to replace all the vehicles to buy new, expensive technology? Of course not. Of course, I could make a very strong case that the Greens are using fear tactics and market manipulation in order to make profits for themselves while further their political agenda and create a new sort of serf class that will be unable to pay to receive the benefits that the ultra rich can afford. But hey, it's OK because they can afford to pay astronomical "carbon" fees but if the lower or middle class can't, they shouldn't be allowed to do so.

I could go on forever here, but you get the drift. The GOP really got one right today.

Missle Defense Test: Successful Again

We successfully shot down a ballistic missile off the coast of Hawaii using interceptors from the USS Erie. This is huge. While Democrats like Barack Obama and indeed the Dems in generally going back to the Reagan administration have staunchly opposed missile defense as some hair brained scheme, it is now apparent that our system is quite capable of defending us from nuclear attacks. That's something that should be damn near headline news, instead its admonished to near the back of news reports. This was a major investment that has truly paid off for us. This will go a long way to providing an even greater level of national defense. Of course the Russians and the Chinese are none too happy that we've developed such advanced weapon systems that we can fend off the most devastating of conventional attacks, but that is to be expected. The military should be commended for such a great achievement, equally as impressive as the satellite shoot down.

Government Intervention A Big Part of the Mortgage Mess

Shocking. Anyone still not see how the government causes more problems than it cures? Of course the policies were set in place with the best of intention in mind, that being to help those who were financially borderline for a solid loan to attain one...at high risk. The government took a big gamble with our tax dollar, again, for a purpose that had honorable intentions (that being to help out lower income families), and lost big for us by exposing tax dollars to an unacceptable level of risk that the vast majority of responsible, free market companies wouldn't touch. The result:

The agency neglected to examine whether borrowers could make the payments on the loans that Freddie and Fannie classified as affordable. From 2004 to 2006, the two purchased $434 billion in securities backed by subprime loans, creating a market for more such lending. Subprime loans are targeted toward borrowers with poor credit, and they generally carry higher interest rates than conventional loans.

So to reiterate, the government backed agencies decided to take higher risks with tax payer dollars, seeking to increase their own revenue, and now, not only have we lost the tax dollars used to purchase these loans, subsequently, liberal members of Congress are looking to take even more tax dollars from us to "fix" the problem. You can see where this is going. How are these lessons lost on our so called leaders? Despite the intentions of central planners to assist people, it was greed on the government level and the lack of accountability that lead the vast majorities in the first place, and instead of helping a small percentage of the population, they hurt the vast majority of the population instead.

No surprise really. Think the Democrats are going to turn around sometime soon and get a little mad at the media for not properly vetting one of the most liberal and underhanded candidates for higher office in quite some time? Oh, I'm sure they're getting ready. He's already used not so subtle sexist references to Hillary Clinton and has already started discriminating against John McCain's age, this of course, after he supposedly somehow missed the fact that his pastor was a foaming at the mouth lunatic after sitting about 1o feet from him every week and heard every speech the guy gave. Only after it was politically expedient for him to distance himself did he do so. Character guy. He was so unsure of Rev. Wright that he continually called him a "spiritual mentor" and a close personal friend. Friends never hear friends express opinions right?

Well, ABC has a nice story about how Obama diverted Millions upon Millions of dollars to his political allies. His wife also benefited as you already know, from his political activities. In fact, everyone around Obama who was willing to do his dirty work or was a special interest he agreed with, got some money thrown at them, while he hurls disingenuous promises of somehow being "different" than anyone else. In terms of egotistical, he's right on that point.

Worse yet, it's now almost legendary how far MSNBC and the AP as well as other media organizations are in the tank for the guy. An unquestioning media who serves as a propaganda wing is what gets most dictatorships moving along rapidly. Even worse is the whole Messianic idea behind his candidacy, and the photos taken by the media and the presentation of such are extremely disturbing. See here and here. Feel free to Google Chris Matthews and Obama and see the results. You'll also note that many older style Democrats (Clinton, Leiberman, etc) have started to go on record as saying that Fox News really is the only fair network left. That is, the only network where the political analysts aren't fellating Obama.

You'll also be pleased to know he's lied, and blatantly so, on many occasions. One such is his idea of appeasements towards terrorists and dictators, which President Bush called him out on today. He says that's a lie, but check out the video and screen cap that was captured by Hot Air's Allahpundit, taken straight from Obama's website (side note: if you put it on the web, you can't just take it down and say it was never there, moron). The media's reaction? He never said that. Somewhere in the distance I can hear goosestepping from the liberal minions circa 1939 Germany.

Liberals In Senate Tried to Ram Amnesty Down Our Throats....Again

What is this, like their 5th try in the last few months? It is utterly disgraceful and politically disgusting that liberals in the Senate stuffed an amendment onto the Iraq funding bill that would have required granting amnesty to illegal aliens, increased the number of work visas for low skilled labor, AND required a price restriction on the labor. How can anyone be so contemptuous for our troops (by putting them in harms way by slowing down the funds necessary for them to fulfill their mission), so anti-free market (by introducing wage freezes, harmful the very same people they propose to give amnesty to), and advocating a lawless, open border? It's insanity, and it's seems fitting its Sen. Feinstein was one of the "champions" of this nonsense.

Let's look at each aspect briefly. First, it is utterly inappropriate to attach amendments to the Iraq funding bill to try to revive the horrendous amnesty act that the Senate tried to push upon our nation. Such issues should, and only should, be considered as separate bills.

Secondly, advocating an open borders policy is a terrible idea in the first place. While individual liberty allows for individuals to move freely, that must be balanced with protecting the liberties and rights of others. For example, we should absolutely allow for legal immigration into this nation, but there is a responsibility now to check to make sure those entering the nation are free from communicable diseases, are clear of a criminal background, etc. This would ensure security for our citizens and allow for a responsible policy of immigration with a secure border. This also is essential to homeland security.

Economic implications include the depression of wages. One argument that you hear is that illegal immigrants took jobs from Americans. In one sense, that is true. It is true in that an artificially large workforce amounts to an oversupply of labor. An oversupply leads to lower prices, essentially a competition to the bottom. People will accept markedly lower wage rates for jobs that normally would pay much higher rates. Secondly, we have the abuse of the social security system, health care benefits, etc and increases in identity theft occurrences (as illegals will undoubtedly look for ways to circumvent the system). You also have a system where employers who break the law by employing people they know to be illegal are much more likely to abuse their workers and provide unsafe work conditions as the illegals are many times less likely to report the violations as they themselves are in violation of the law.

For any elected member of the United States Congress to delay and stall funds from reaching our troops is simply inexcusable. Democrats have long said they supported the troops, while their minions have gone forth and accused them of being murderous thugs for the Bush Administration on one hand, and being victims of underfunded and under armored patsies on the other, both outrageous charges. Democrats themselves have continually held up the funding that the troops rely on to provide them with the ammunition, support, and armor needed to successfully fight the war. They are in no way, shape, or form supporting the troops by accusing them of atrocities and withholding funding from the battlefield. They are attempting to score the cheapest, and most insidious, of political points.

Finally, in terms of economics (which I briefly touched on earlier) any "wage freeze" is a terrible idea that flies in the face of capitalism (not that has ever stopped the Dems before). Any worker that is providing a service is deserving of the highest wage that the market deems to be proper for that particular position, be it higher, or lower. At a lower wage, the workers have an incentive to shift to different, more lucrative position where their compensation given is more agreeable to them. At higher wages, you will see more workers shift into that field, and eventually prices will level off at equilibrium. To deny the free market to work is to punish the workers and the community as a whole.

This whole little scheme Senate Democrats cooked up is indicative of their whole means of operation. They will do anything they can to score cheap political points, to highlight a small segment of the electorate in order to gain some votes, all the while holding everything that has made America successful since its inception in contempt. The free market, national security, rule of law, ability to compete in a free system, the right to earn a wage equal to your talent, etc. Worse, to hold a completely VOLUNTARY Armed Services hostage in order to get some political agenda pushed forward is down right unforgivable.

Will CBS Ruin C Net?

I sure hope not, but CBS has purchased CNet for $1.8 billion dollars. I'm a little perturbed by this. I've had CBS on Snarfer for a while and still haven't come across anything useful from them since I installed the program. The last thing they did that was worth mention was Dan Rather's foaming at the mouth "fake but accurate" defense of using fake documents in his liberal rage against President Bush, which of course resulted in his losing his job and his credibility. Brought down by a moron with Microsoft Word, how sad. On the other hand, CNet is one of the most useful tech sites out there, with outstanding reviews provided by both their editors and a community of users. They also provide some cool news blips as well. I've checked CNet with prior to making many a purchases. I really hope CBS keeps their paws off of CNet and allows them to run as an independent site, basically, just let them keep on doing what they're doing, or they will risk ruining a great website.

Political Subprime Madness

Unfortunately, as the subprime woes continue to play out across our country, we are faced with an ever growing possibility of the Democratic Congress using this situation as political power play for votes. The Christian Science Monitor has a solid article on how the Democrats are seriously eyeing a plan to have tax powers bail out Fannie Mae and expose citizens tax payers to increased risk that their “investments” may default. This is a terrible idea on many levels. First, we are disallowing the free market to self correct and once the government gets involved, it will not simply walk away in a year or two. Secondly, this violates a general principle of government, and that is, to do what is good for the majority of the citizens while providing the rules and laws that govern the land. In Congress’ minds, they are doing the “majority” a favor, but statistics will show a vast majority of homeowners have been exceedingly responsible and the current situation, in terms of sheer percentage of foreclosures, does not directly impact a vast majority of the nation. To step in and bail out a select few is yet another way the government is looking to choose winners and losers.

Is it really fair to allow this bail out to assist only those who were irresponsible enough to engage in bad loan behavior in the first place while charging responsible entities extra tax dollars to “correct” the problem? Bad decisions were made both on the part of lenders as well as borrowers and the lessons learned will undoubtedly self correct in short order, that is, of course, if the government does interfere. Additionally, as we see ballooning deficit spending, the government would be extremely irresponsible by exposing itself and the tax payers to high risk loans.

If individuals wish to engage in high risk loans they should rightfully be compensated, the higher the risk, the higher the interest paid and this “investment” would be much riskier than junk bonds. It is the not government’s role to fulfill the type of function they are dangerously close to undertaking. As they pour tax dollars into this program they will widen the deficit. An agency as dysfunctional and wasteful as the federal government has become has no logical reason to get involved in this situation without further damaging itself. If this were even a case of a simple shift in tax dollars in one area to another, I would still oppose this measure. Worse, it will create yet expenditure without a corresponding cut in spending. All for votes. Are we left with no statesmen or even rational politicians?

Salute to A Hero

The word hero is probably a bit overused in today’s world, but no doubt we do see true heroes, people who, after hearing their stories inspire us to be better people and put things in perspective. Joseph Richardson, of Chicago, is such a hero. Mr. Richardson passed away late on Monday after saving his daughter from an oncoming drunk driving, by using himself to shield his 4 year old. Nothing I can say will really do him any justice. What he did was an amazing act of courage and of true, undying love. We should all say a prayer for Mr. Richardson and his family.

McCain's Character

The Navy released John McCain’s service record and confirmed what everyone knew, the man was an amazing officer who did everything conceivable, and then some, for his country. The entire article is worth reading to truly digest just how great of an American John McCain is. He did not refuse to go home early from a Vietnamese prison camp for money or promise of political power. He did it because it was the right thing to do. He did not abandon his mission on the doomed flight that resulted in his capture before completing his mission. He was decorated in nearly every way possible.

I will admit that I am not in total lock step with John McCain; I think he is wrong on immigration and that his affinity for the global warming non-sense bothers me a bit. However, Sen. McCain has made his mission in the Senate to seek out common ground on common sense issues in order to reduce corruption and curtail wasteful spending, and he has been successful in doing so. He has irked many within his party for working with hard leftists like Feingold and Kennedy but he has been successful in doing so and has always conducted himself in a professional manner, a man of great leadership ability.
This election is very unique in many ways. Undoubtedly America is fed up with the current state of affairs. Among the major candidates left, however, John McCain is the only one with a proven track record of reconciling major differences between hardened partisans. He is the only candidate who is committed to free market principles as solutions to health care, finance, and the economy as a whole. He is the only candidate who has not made raising taxes a banner of his campaign, in fact, he is the only candidate committed to cutting government spending among the major candidates.

That, my friends, is why we should be supporting John McCain. He may not give electrifying speeches, but he harbors no inner distrust and disgust for First Amendment rights. He does not rebuke a person who has made asinine statements for 20 years only for politically expedient reasons. He has, however, rebuked those who he works closely with every time they have gone off the deep end, and he does so without hesitation. He too is fed up with the corruption and craziness in Washington. He’s the only one will be successful in doing so. He is the only candidate left among the major parties that is not Fascist in nature, a hardened leftist determined to grow the government, punish successful corporations, and take economically suicidal positions against free trade that only benefit certain Union (special interest groups) at the cost of American consumers and taxpayers. That, among many reasons, is why John McCain must win this election.

Of course that's going forward from now and doesn't account for the DROP in temperatures over the last few years. For starters, they're not about to admit they are completely wrong. They simply can't do it. It would fly in the face of the premise of the hoax in the first place. Global Warming is nothing more than a Leftist agenda to promote global collectivist ideas. They won't admit they are wrong, but even if they did admit it, it would go something like this, "well it was for moral reasons..." Which is exactly the kind of garbage the fascists pedal all the time when their schemes are exposed.

I know that some people reading this will essentially say that I'm something of a "flat Earther" as Al Gore would say, but let's for a moment pause to consider some of the tenets of Global Warming:
1. The world is overpopulated (i.e. abortion as a means of population control is a good thing)
2. Scientists who have produced evidence to the contrary of global warming hysteria or expressed doubts with regard to the theory are silenced (suppress opposing speech)
3. World governments need to pass binding resolutions in order to reach common laws regarding carbon and greenhouse emissions (surrender national sovereignty to an international body)
4. Through these international organizations and restrictions control the means of production and determine what levels are acceptable to be manufactured (the destruction of capitalism)
5. Limit the use of carbon to those who can pay high taxes or "carbon credits" (a type of restoration of creating a class of serfs)

I could make list that goes on and on, but again, I realize that many of you are thinking that I am some nutjob for precisely some of the reasons I touched on earlier. I urge you to consider the destructive ethanol bill and it's impact on the world. When our Congress passes the ethanol mandate and produced huge subsidies for corn, they did so with the best of intentions, but intentions don't make for good policy, as we have seen. In the short time since this bill passed, world food prices have surged, famine and malnutrition are on the rise, and there has been no reduction in our dependence on foreign oil. Ethanol can not even be transported with our current pipeline system, meanwhile, we have largely hampered the free market to develop the technologies that are readily available and clean, such as nuclear, solar, etc. Additionally, in the short term expanded drilling and oil production domestically would have a huge impact both on our economy and on our energy supply. The government's intervention, however, has hampered the development and implementation of what many fair minded people would agree would be the fastest and best solution to our energy problems. No one would agree that depending on foreign sources for our energy is a good thing. Meanwhile, you have to give John McCain credit for not pandering to Iowans today when he told them flat out, he's against the destructive farm subsidies.

There are many economic friendly things that can be done to preserve the economy including recycling, using a water filter instead of using tons of bottled water, not littering, using a mulching lawn mower, etc.

Global Warming and they hysterics behind it, however, are nothing more than a political ploy by the left to get individuals to surrender their rights to people who "know better" than they do, and that is a very, very dangerous idea.

Colombia Recovered 66 Lbs of Uranium?

First, refresh yourself with my earlier posts (first and second) to get familiar with basics of the situation, which most people probably won't have to anyway. If the what the Colombians are saying is true, as reported by Christian Science Monitor, why isn't this screaming across headlines today? Why isn't it being reported with the greatest of importance that a terrorist organization not only sought out, but actually acquired 66 lbs of uranium for a Dirty Bomb, that the Colombians seized along with a great sum of money.

On Wednesday, Colombian military officials said that they recovered 66 pounds of uranium that, they say, was acquired by the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC). Colombian Gen. Freddy Padilla tied the uranium to the seized laptops, saying one of the computer files mentions attempts by the FARC to buy uranium, apparently to resell. Earlier this month, Colombian officials claimed the rebels were seeking uranium to make a "dirty bomb."

That information should set off alarm bells, but rest assured the media and the American Left, who have already shown an affinity for Hugo Chavez, seem for whatever reason, to be ignoring what is most likely damning evidence against the Venezuelan dictator.

The laptops reportedly detail meetings between FARC leaders and members of Ecuadorean President Rafael Correa's government – and a possible $20,000 rebel contribution to Mr. Correa's campaign. Another document, say Colombian officials, indicates Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez planned to make his own contribution to the FARC of $300 million and several hundred used rifles. Based on that information, Mr. Uribe threatened to have Mr. Chávez prosecuted in international courts for sponsoring "genocide."

After sending troops to the Colombian border, suddenly a week later Chávez called for reconciliation and Correa accepted Colombia's apology for violating its territory.
Laura Gil, an international relations consultant in Bogotá, says it was the computer files rather than their "vocation for peace," that led Chávez and Correa to stand down from the conflict.
"Chávez and Uribe checkmated each other," agrees Mr. Shifter explaining the lightning fast reestablishing of ties. Ecuador has been slower to send its ambassador back to Bogotá, wary that Colombia may still plan to use the information to its advantage.

Both Chávez and Correa are now warning that tensions in the Andes will not fully ease unless Colombia agrees to keep quiet about what's on the computers.

So, why do you suppose that Chavez and his puppet Correa would suddenly and rapidly back off Colombia, who acquired an incredible amount of intel, paper trails, and most importantly, enough uranium to make a dirty bomb from the FARC terrorists? Is there any question what's on those laptops that is even more damning than a direct link to Chavez and Correra helping FARC acquire and supply materials for a dirty bomb? Think Iran is somehow connected given their new "economic" ties with Chavez?

The Supreme Court Will Make the Right Decision

I have faith that the Supreme Court will affirm what every one already knows, that the right to bear arms is an INDIVIDUAL right and that the D.C. Gun Ban will purged forever. It's the only logical decision they can make. There really shouldn't even be an argument. The Bill of Rights was and is a list of rights that the individuals in American are entitled to, it is a cut and dry, and plainly stated. Liberal hacks who interpret the Second Amendment as being only granted to those in "militias" are completely dishonest. It is indisputable that the Founders hammered out the Bill of Rights for individuals.

The Supreme Court took up the Heller case and it's sparked a debate. With the typical Leftwing nuts and the MSM on one side and level headed Americans on the other side. Here's the Liberal argument:

Justice John Paul Stevens noted that Congress and all but two states had focused the "right to keep and bear arms" on the militia, not on personal self-defense. It was seen "as the right to keep and bear arms for the common defense," he said.

But the court's liberal bloc did not appear to have the votes to uphold the law.

Uh-huh. So in Liberal's minds the right to bear arms to defend from an over reaching Federal Government (the same kind, ironically, that they seek to create) is a right of a militia in an effort to fight off or overthrow said government. Say....that was done once before....I think that militia was for...the Confederacy. Interesting view, moonbats.

So besides the handgun ban in D.C., the lawyers for the city said, "hey, people can still OWN a gun" but......

He said the Washington law should be upheld because it allows homeowners to have a disassembled rifle or shotgun at home, even while it bans small handguns.

Ah yes, a disassembled rife will come in very handy during a home invasion. I mean, should a criminal bust in your home, with an illegally owned handgun, and is pointing a gun at you, rest assured, in that brief moment, you move with Superman-like quickness to assemble said rifle, load it, and defend yourself.

Utterly ridiculous. It looks like the non-retarded members of the SCOTUS will prevail though:

Justice Anthony M. Kennedy, who is the swing vote in close cases, said he believed the 2nd Amendment did more than bolster the state militia. "In my view, there is a general right to bear arms" that goes beyond serving in the militia, Kennedy said.

Most Americans believe the 2nd Amendment protects the right of law-abiding persons to "keep and bear arms." But the legal meaning of this provision remains in doubt. The high court has never invoked this right to strike down a gun law nor has it ruled that it protects a personal right to own a gun.

The left always goes off about how our rights are being taken from us when a Conservative movement in in control of any of the branches of government, but really, who assails our rights? The leftists are attempting to strip away the Second Amendment and the individual right that it grants us that is on equal footing to the First Amendment, as are the other components of the Constitution. I'm not going to make any bones about it, one area that was grossly abused by the Bush Administration was the illegal surveillance of American citizens on our own soil. The FISA argument is slightly different, as if we have a known terrorist calling into or out of the US, yes, we should be all over that. However, for intelligence gathering on US citizens, it is our right to have to have search warrants be granted before such action. The same can be said here.

The Second Amendment is an individual right that is granted to us by our Constitution, and here, we see the liberals once again assailing it. Think of their proposal for national health care. Does anyone not thing that giving the government full access to our medical records and telling us how and by what means we will receive care is not an erosion of our right? The government has no right to know our medical history and be able to dissect it. What then if a person had ever had mental health care administered? The government could easily strip them of their right to vote even if it was temporary or minor condition. We can not allow our individual rights to be usurped by a liberal populist movement who clouds their oppressive and Constitution eroding desires to be cloaked under the guise of "public good." We must recognize our rights, cherish them, and protect them at all costs.

On a lighter note, I was on the Communist News Network's (CNN) website and read a brief little update on the case much earlier in the day. Well, as always the morons at CNN didn't disappoint, and even brought a little ray of sunshine into my day:

Thirty-one states along with groups like the powerful National Rifle Association -- a gun rights lobby group -- support the gun owners. A handful of states such as Maryland, Massachusetts, Chicago, and San Francisco support Washington.

Classic leftist writings write there. First, they try to make the NRA seem like the boogeymen, which is entirely not true. Second, CNN makes sure that we know that the STATES OF CHICAGO AND SAN FRANCISCO are firmly against this. Proof read much? Or if they do, I wonder what it feels like knowing that the average first grader would have caught that major mistake. Gotta love the liberal media.

Democrats Should Probably Listen to the Iraqis

That's exactly what they accused President Bush of not doing, listening to the commanders on the ground and not having an effective withdrawal strategy. My how the times have changed. Today the Democrats are ignoring the commanders on the ground with the Surge being a strong success in decreasing the amount of attacks in Iraq. They are also ignoring the wishes of the Iraqis are are threatening a disastrous uber fast withdrawal that will lead to genocide. Well, today, the Iraqi Foreign Minister sounded off on why it is vitally important to Iraqis, in terms of security and in terms of reconciliation, why the Democrats cut and run plan would result in complete and utter disaster for the people of Iraq. Here's some choice quotes:

He noted, though, that the Iraqis still managed to establish a government and ratify a constitution after regaining sovereignty in June 2004, and that Iraqis enjoy freedoms that were absent under nearly three decades of Saddam's brutal rule.

"These past five years, I think, were full of hopes and promises but also of tears and blood ... and we've gone through a very, very difficult transformation," Zebari said. "What we the Iraqis have achieved over the last five years since liberation has been remarkable."

He was optimistic that the threats to pull out were empty campaign rhetoric.

"We are in an election season, and many candidates will say things that appeal to the public. But when the real national interests of the United States, of the nation, confront them, I think they have to make hard decisions," Zebari said of the candidates.

"I think now American interests in this part of the world are as important as they were in Germany during the World War so it will not be easy for any administration, Republican or Democrat, just to wash off their hands and walk away," he said. "There is a certain responsibility, an international and moral responsibility, to help the people of Iraq to reach a stable form of governance."

He's completely right of course. In fact, he acknowledges that all sides, including the US, made mistakes but that in order to achieve stability and save the lives of scores, as well as for both nation's foreign policies and national securities, success is vital. He's absolutely right. It's a shame the left can't acknowledge this or even listen to the Iraqi government's wish. Even now, Hillary is out trying to score more cheap leftist points by attacking Blackwater and private contractors who provide the security for the highest level ambassadors and political visitors to Iraq. It's important to note that not a single person under the protection of Blackwater has died while under their guard. The left always neglects that fact and constantly attacks them. The fact is Blackwater has made some mistakes, but really, who hasn't. They have provided security in areas which has allowed the military to shift forces elsewhere, which has had a positive effect as well. The fact is, it is of the utmost importance that we succeed in Iraq, for the interests of this nation and the interests of the Iraqis. It's funny how the media fails to use Japan as the model for what we are trying to do in Iraq, but that's exactly how this should be approached. We owe it to the Iraqis to get them on their own feet, and that takes time. We committed to go to war, and we must be committed to helping rebuild that nation and care for the people of Iraq in the interim.

Obama Refuses to Accept Responsibility, Sets Race Relations Back 20 Years, and Insults Everyone's Intelligence

The Libs are a swooning after Obama's speech today, but I stand here, completely and utterly offended at the audacity of dishonesty that he dished out today. Of course there are racial issues in today's world, but that's not really what he did today, not at all no, rather this is what he did:

Obama's mentor Rev. "Amerikkka is EVIL!" Wright got nailed for spouting out fundamentally untrue and vicious lies about our nation, accusing the nation of racism, of "deserving 9/11", of creating the HIV/AIDS virus to kill off its citizens, etc. By Obama's own past admissions, Wright was a huge part in shaping his religious and political beliefs.

So how does Obama answer the charge that his mentor is an anti-American hate peddling hack? By playing the race card.

Race did not make Rev. Wright go up on stage and scream "God Damn America", his politics did. His completely unhinged nutroot mentality made him do that. Race had nothing to do with it. So once, Obama pulled the race card, and played it hard, to dodge having to answer the true questions about the CONTENT of Wright's speech. Here's some video:

Also notice Wright's thinly veiled reference comparison of Obama to Jesus, something that his supporters often do. You'll also notice the scary cult like mentality of the church members, much like his supporters. He also says rich, white people are his "enemies." He also refuses to judge the CONTENT OF THE CHARACTER of black Republicans for not following the cult of liberalism.

Well, let's just look at the speech from today. He excuses Wright's obvious racism as being acceptable because of what has happened in past generations. That's crap, and it's a lie. It's not right. So would a white person who gets jumped by a black person be excused for having prejudice after such an innocent be excused? Would a black person who gets robbed by a white person be excused of prejudice after the incident? Of course not, it's still racism. However, that was not the issue. The issue was politics.

Barack Obama never condemned Wright for his political speech from the pulpit, something the left goes wild over if someone who leans right would do. Obama did not approach this as what it is, a political issue. Instead, he is now riding the race card hard and fast. They've been doing this for quite sometime. If you don't support him or criticize him, you're a racist. Well, here's the truth. The man's politics suck. His speeches are delivered in incredible fashions and he has amazing oratory skills, but they are devoid of any concrete ideas, or if he does present a concrete idea, it's so far to the left that it's unreal. He talks a great game and he's playing the race card like a Vegas card shark.

He says in his speech, that he won't disown Wright because that's not fair? Really? Well, that's just a plain old lack of intestinal fortitude and leadership. If you're entire campaign is run on "hope and change" and doing things to advance and "raise America" up, then by definition you are required to get up and walk away at a minimum. I'm sure Obama would not have a problem booing a cheap shot at a sporting event, but he can't even walk away when he hears insidious attacks like Wright's? He admitted he had heard them before, was at speeches where Wright said things like in the videos above, and he kept going back. That's not leadership, that's a farce. I've had jobs where on break I've heard racist things. I walked away and when asked by one of the people I told them why. I'm not a political leader, I'm not anyone special. Yet, somehow Barack Obama can't even follow his own words? In his case, words speak louder than actions, and that's all he has, words. He's done nothing in the United States Senate and all he did today was illustrate that he is not someone who will change this nation for the better, but will sharply divide this nation even further and give a special "racist-branding" weapon to his supporters to go out and label all opposition to him. Martin Luther King's speech talked about judging people about the content of a person's character, and not their skin color. I could care less if Wright or Obama were white or black. Wright lambasted this nation, in a near treasonous fashion and Obama knew. He did nothing. He kept right on getting advice and consultations from Wright and his race baiting, America bashing ideals. That's wrong, no matter who, no matter the color.

Clinton, Obama Think Anyone Making $31,850 on Up is Too Wealthy, Seeking Fatalistic Economic Policies

How else can you describe their ignorant and economy killing votes to raise taxes on everyone in the United States who makes over $31,850? How they can even defend that position in the face of their campaigning along the lines of "middle-class tax cuts" and "rollback" the tax breaks that were for the "top 1%." Utterly unbelievable. They're already breaking their campaign promises and declaring war on everyone in America. I defy you to find me someone who lives in the Megaopolis making $31,850 and is on their own and is doing very well. Just show me one.

Obama and Clinton both promise to reverse Bush's tax cuts for wealthier
taxpayers, but the Democratic budget they'll be voting for would allow
income tax rates to go up on individuals making as little as $31,850
and couples earning $63,700 or more.

That's a 12% tax increase for those in the that modest bracket. The definitions of wealthy are much more gray than the Democrats realize, or if they do, are simply lying. $50,000 in some places is a great deal of money, in others, it is not. This is the folly of the direct tax and the tax code in general. That's going to be an extremely difficult hit to swallow. Even as inflation keeps creeping up they will do even more to decrease the amount of real wages that Americans will have their disposal. Let's say for example that the inflation rate in 2010 will be 3% and work gives you a 4% raise. You're up 1%, which isn't necessarily a good thing, obviously you'd want to be much higher. Now let's say the Democrats get away with allowing our lower tax rates to revert to a higher rate and you're in that tax bracket that starts at $31,850. Well, your 1%-3% (the amount of the pay taken, not the 12% increase in actual dollars taken, which is in and of itself, insane) is now a net of LOSING 2% of your pay. This is an economic recipe for success? This is the path the Democrats seek to go down? Even worse, the subprime crisis will a blip on the radar when the investment rates skyrocket and Americans will no longer sell stocks due to an insane capital gains rate, foreign investments coming into the United States and US investors money getting great gains overseas, will drop dramatically. Protectionist policies that are tactically employed by the Democrats will provide another rib breaking punch to the economy. Also keep in mind that the Democrats are killing the efforts in Congress to put just a 1 year, not a lifetime ban as it should be, but a 1 year ban on earmarks.

to ban such earmarks for a year, despite the endorsement of all three
presidential candidates.

All three presidential candidates endorsed it? Really, then why is Harry Reid nearly single handedly blocking this effort and taking the insane position that somehow the Founding Fathers would have shed their blood to protect pork?

“As we look back in history, the Founding Fathers would be cringing to
hear people talking about eliminating earmarks,” Reid said, noting that
the Founders dictated in the Constitution that all spending should
originate in Congress, not the executive branch.

Got that? Understand what he's saying? The FOUNDING FATHERS WOULD HAVE DEFENDED THE ABUSE OF GOVERNMENT FUNDS IN THE FORM OF KICKBACKS AND PET PROJECTS? Is he one the biggest slime balls in America today or what? The Founding Fathers would have railed against this insanity and would NEVER have allowed this to happen in the first place.

This should also illustrate just how badly Obama and Clinton are lying. They want to be the leaders of the NATION and yet can't even get HARRY REID, A MEMBER OF THEIR OWN PARTY TO EVEN ALLOW A VOTE ON A BILL THEY SUPPOSEDLY SUPPORT? What kind of leadership is that? That type of leadership wouldn't get you elected head of work study group, let alone leader of the free world. Appeasing the base is just what the Democrats are good at, and there is plenty of Republicans who have been doing the same thing. However, John McCain, in this respect is excellent:

Obama joined with other lawmakers last year to obtain almost $100 million worth of earmarks for Illinois. Clinton worked with others to win $342 million in pet projects for New York and Pelosi obtained $94 million for California.
...
McCain is among only six members of the Senate who don't ask for pet projects.

Only six, I know one of the other members is my favorite Sen. Tom Coburn. It's sad really. So McCain wasted and swindled $0 from the tax payers, Obama wasted and swindled $100,000,000 from the tax payers, and Clinton wasted and swindled $342,000,000 from the tax payers. Unreal. The economy can not withstand the type of "leadership" that the Democrats can provide.

You may also want to read up on the debacle that is the farm bill that Democrats have crafted up and just how horrible it will be for this nation. I can't even stomach writing more on their ineptitude and economic destroying policies at this point.

Cuban Soccer Players Defect

Surely the 7 of the 18 members of the Cuban soccer players who went missing from their hotel while in the United States, where they are keenly aware of the fact that they will be given asylum from the tyrannical rule of Raul Castro, didn't plan this far in advance, right? While we must be on top of our security at all times, and given the government of Cuba's open hostility toward us and our government, I'm pretty sure this is not nefarious. These men probably saw this as a gold opportunity to escape the hardships brought upon them and their families by the totalitarian regime of Cuba. I do find it amazing that for as many sports stars defect from the Communist nation when they are allowed to come to the States, that the Cuban government still allows this practice, perhaps one of the only ways in which they allow some freedoms to the citizens, albeit only if they are the cream of the crop at a sport. Fear not though, Raul Castro, a hero of the Leftists, has brought some economic reforms that were announced today including:

It listed computers, video and DVD players, 19-inch and
24-inch television sets, electric pressure cookers and rice
cookers, electric bicycles, car alarms and microwaves that can
now be freely bought by Cubans.

Video players (VHS)...24" TVs....rice cookers....microwaves. It's like 1990 all over again. The people of Cuba have been oppressed for so long it's hard for those of us who still have most of our freedoms to really comprehend their struggle. I hope that the Cubans have an awakening that will allow for their personal freedoms to grow and flourish along with their economic freedoms. However, under the current Communist thuggery, it will never happen.

Good Riddance Eliot Spitzer

Eliot Spitzer is pretty much the rat going down with his own sinking ship. News broke on Monday of his utilization of high price hookers and his penchant for attempting to have unprotected sex with them, even after he led investigations into the practices a while back. Utterly disgraceful behavior for any elected official. Amazingly, as of the time of this writing, he still has not stepped down. Another high profile Northeast governor who promised ethics reform to be taken down by their sexual appetites, though it wasn't as bad for him as it was for Jim McGreevey of New Jersey, which was one of the more heinous sex scandals of our time, and my heart goes out to Mr. McGreevey's family. The same can be said in this case, I can only imagine the hurt that Mrs. Spitzer and her children feel. Spitzer's clock had been ticking for quite sometime as he had numerous scandals surrounding him including his plan to issue drivers licenses to illegal immigrants, the allegations of using the police and other law enforcement agencies to target and conduct surveillance on his political opponents, and his threats against members of Wall Street. With regard to Wall Street, they are especially happy this corrupt man is going to be out of office soon if he has any amount of decency left in him. Of course, I'm not saying that all the work he did, especially with relation to illegal tactics done by members of the financial industry, should be viewed with suspicion, but he had a history of leveling threats against people who had the audacity to speak out against him. Hot Air, as always, has a great post on Spitzer, one worth reading to remind yourself of the type of person he is. Hopefully by the time I wake up tomorrow, he's out of office, it's the only decent thing he can do.

EU, WTO Need to Raise Up

I'm all about diplomatic relations and having means to regulate trade, specifically, free and fair trade, in which consumers of the nations involved are opened to new products that increase the level of competition and is reciprocal in nature in terms of taxes, tariffs, etc. However, such free trade, and the accompanying grievances involved in such process must absolutely respect the laws of the nations involved. The EU and WTO are greatly overstepping their bounds by investing the practices of the United States with regard to internet gambling. Here's a section of the article:

European companies claim a U.S. ban that forced them out of the lucrative American market discriminates against them in violation of WTO rules, while permitting domestic gambling companies, particularly those offering betting on horse races, to flourish.

In 2006, the WTO had ruled against a U.S. ban that stops American banks and credit card companies from processing payments to online gambling businesses outside the country.

There are strict gambling laws in the United States, decided upon by our legislature, who have been elected by the people of the United States. These laws are the ones that the EU and the WTO are attempting to exploit in order to advance their business practices in the United States. Previous efforts by the EU failed in the WTO, but here they are trying again. The investigation is not limited in scope to just the industries that are considered legal gambling within the United States and are not as well regulated and scrutinized as they are here. The efforts by the EU through the WTO openly seek to undermine the laws of our nation and should not be allowed to succeed. I am one of the biggest proponents of the free market, the sale and movement of products across the border, and of the utility derived by the consumers. However, when one organization seeks to forcefully assert itself into a heavily regulated market that would circumvent the laws of this nation, that effort must be shut off immediately. What the EU is attempting to do amounts to nothing more than open contempt for the laws of the United States.

I'm Happy I Don't Have Comcast

I have RCN as my internet provider and I'm very happy with their services. A few years ago, during one of the floods of the Delaware River, when I still lived in Easton, many people experienced a variety of outages for TV, phone, and internet. At the time, I had RCN for all three services. The river had spilled over its banks and done serious damage across the area. I think my service was down for about 2 hours, where others had been down for days. Yes, I realize that sounds like a commercial for them, but it's true. I'm also very happy that Comcast is not my provider, seeing as how once again they are blatantly attacking net neutrality. It's not exactly the hot button issue it should be, but freedom of information is as right that I think many people overlook. Comcast has used tactics in order to slow down peer to peer sharing and to favor some websites over others with regard to download speeds. That's just utterly ridiculous. I hope this one issue where bi-partisanship can prevail for the good of the American consumer and the right of the people to access their information from the location of their choosing. Vindicated on Inflation Worries

I've gone off on a tangent a few times telling everyone how inflation was the far greater worry for the economy as a whole than the subprime crisis. Indeed, I've had my fair share of intellectual arguments on this subject. I've maintained that the Fed should not be slashing interest rates at a time when the American dollar has been drastically weakened as it would simply lead to an even weaker dollar, increased inflation, and have a far more wide ranging negative impact on the economy. Indeed, this is what is happening. Oil hit another high today, briefly hitting $108 on a "weakened dollar" among other geo-political factors. The irresponsibility of lenders and borrowers with regard to the subprime mess has been appalling, but a government bail out is equally irresponsible as the burden should not shift to the people who responsible enough to do the right thing when acquiring a home.

Well, I was reading some articles on Bloomberg today, and the one headline I came across was a great highlight of some of the things I've been saying with regard to the worries I've expressed on inflation, "TIPS' Yield Shows Fed Has Lost Control of Inflation." One of the most worrisome parts of this article:

The last time investors were so worried about faster inflation amid slowing growth, Paul A. Volcker presided over a Fed that would raise rates as high as 20 percent to end the stagflation crisis of the 1970s, according to Seth Plunkett, a bond fund manager at American Century Investment Management in Mountain View, California. The firm manages $20 billion.

That's scary bad, Jimmy Carter bad. Rapid inflation will harm far more people in far more ways than just the subprime crisis. An editorial by Caroline Baum, also from Bloomberg's website, does a great job of presenting a great deal of how I feel, and probably more effectively, here's the takeaway:

You probably can sense where I'm going. Today's economic and financial crisis would resolve itself more quickly and efficiently if the government got out of the way. Yes, there would be pain. Some banks would fail. Others would clamp down on credit to atone for the years of lax lending standards. Homeowners-in-name-only would become renters. Housing prices would fall until speculators found value.

That's not going to happen. The bigger the mess, the more urgent the calls for a government solution, the more willing government is to oblige.

We want laissez-faire capitalism in good times and a government backstop against losses in bad times. It's a tough way to run an economy.

That's quite an effective take on the situation from a number of aspects. The real problem we face is that everyone wants the quick fix, but throwing a band aid on a major flesh wound isn't going to do the trick. If you need major surgery, you need major surgery, but that's better than bleeding out. With the possibility that the Democrats let the tax cuts expire, which will cut off a great deal of foreign investment, lower overall investment rates, stifle small businesses, and decrease overall cash outflows from every citizen of our nation from every tax rate in 2010, we may face an extremely difficult situation thanks to the government's handling of the situation and our politicians looking to secure votes rather than secure the nation's financial health.

Blackwater to be Subject of IRS Investigation?

At least if Henry Waxman gets his wish. His main beef is over the classification of some of the security workers who are classified as contractors. It seems pretty petty for Waxman to go out and direct an investigation against Blackwater for a total of about $50 million over the last 9 years when I'm sure there are much, much more tax evasive companies out there. It never fails that when the Democrats need to hit on talking points they will go after companies that they continually demonize, Blackwater being but just one of them. Keep in mind that the security that Blackwater provides utilized by the highest ranking diplomats visiting Iraq. If Waxman really wants to set up an investigation in order to shore up the financial status of the government, perhaps he should pursue the earmark ban with a little more gusto. $50 million dollars over 9 years is chump change compared to pork that his Democratic cohorts have used for kickbacks to their financiers at the cost of the American tax payer. Regardless of their argument, it is questionable at best if Blackwater did indeed do anything to purposely avoid taxes or is the subject of a Liberal witch hunt, but the pilfering of the American tax dollars by Democrats funneling pork back to their buddies is a matter of public record and included in the various bills that have been passed over the years.

Chavez Continues to Realize the Jig Is Up, Panics Even Worse

Now Chavez is threatening to cut his nose off to spite his face and hurt the Colombian economy as well as his own by pursuing a trade embargo against the Colombians and further threatening to "nationalize" Colombian businesses in Venezuela. He's even rallied another one of his puppet governments, Nicaragua, to "rally" to his side. Chavez got caught and caught big time when the Colombians defended themselves against the kidnapping, drug peddling, murderous FARC. That laptop that the Colombians recovered that Chavez and his cronies all said contained completely bogus intel? Yea, well, I'd say the fact that the Thai and US governments, who just nailed one of the biggest illegal arms dealers in the world, would probably disagree. Why do I say that? Sure, it was a four month sting operation, but that doesn't necessarily mean his whereabouts were completely known even if there was a far reaching net against him. The proof the intel was legit? The charge he was brought in for was selling weapons to FARC. This happens just after intel was caputred during the raid by the Colombians and the man arrested also sold weapons to various terrorist groups including al-Qaeda. Don't forget that the intel captured also showed definitive proof of links between Chavez and the terrorists in FARC with a huge sum of money passing back and forth. It also contained this little gem:

"They say the new president of their country will be (Barack) Obama," noting that Obama rejects both the Bush administration's free trade agreement with Colombia and the current military aid program.

The terrorists in FARC are no on record supporting Obama, who is protectionist and isolationist in nature. Internally they hope for a Democratic victory in '08 as it will make their terror activities much easier for them.

Wow. Gore had less than $2 million dollars in assets less than 8 years ago and now he has enough cash to be able to INVEST $35 million dollars in hedge funds? That's quite a return on investment. He planted the seeds for this a long, long time ago, sunk investments into the companies that he could buy shares of dirt cheap and then was able to use his considerable political and "celebrity" influence to play up the global warming hoax hysterics to high enough level to achieve and annual return on global warming of at least 400% per year. That's quite a haul. He is also a little testy about inquiries into his investments:

Encounter with Obama Supporters

On Tuesday me and Riss went to one of our favorite establishments, "Big Woody's" in Forks Township to get ourselves a good meal. The place makes excellent food and was great for watching football, which we miss tremendously. We were kind of surprised that there was a large number of cars for a Tuesday night and were dismayed when we say the big Obama poster on the door when we entered. To the left were all the Obamanuts, who in this case, were comprised mostly of aging hippies. We quickly made our way to the opposite side where we could be as far away from a scene that we had no interest in being around. We ordered our food and while waiting for the order to come up, the live band, which the aging hippies had hired, started to play a peculiar song. A certain Eric Clapton song that Obama had a penchant for. I apologize for the video being sideways, but I have no way to edit it and turn it right side up (Feel free to do it for me and the email it back to me if you know how to do it):

You'd think Obama supporters wouldn't be too keen on playing "Cocaine" at a rally, but the entire set they put on was essentially a sound track for pot smoking, rapidly aging, flower children. That wasn't all though. One of the heads of this little get together began approaching our table. Here's how that went down:

Obama Supporter: "I'd hate to interrupt you during your dinner..."
Rissa: "Oh, please don't,"

Obama Supporter, with a load of voter registration documents: "We're with Barack Obama and we're just trying to make sure that everyone is registered...."

Obama Supporter: "Oh...." proceeds to walk away and then complain to a few Obama supporters about us.

First of all, the woman had no right to interrupt us during our dinner, which was rudely interrupted and she continued to press even after Rissa had asked her not to come over to us. She then tried to keep pressing after she knew who we were supporting. I had an extremely agitated look on my face while she continued to press until Rissa was finally sufficiently upset to just yell "BYE!" at her. As the little rally continued the people on our side began to filter out as someone with a whiny voice tried to get the crowd to say "Yes We Can," to which they would have been right in so far as if the question had been, can we ruin other people's dining experience. A few people who left were visibly agitated and one even said something about McCain before throwing his money on the bar and leaving, dealing with the gathering for about one minute, to what appeared to us to be someone who decided to vote for Sen. McCain after witnessing the madness that surrounds Obama's campaign. I guess people all over should be expecting this nonsense in the coming months. However, I did learn three important lessons that night. 1. Idiot left wingers can ruin even some of the best food out there. 2. Obama's base has a sizable amount of burned out, old potheads. 3. After witnessing a mass for the Obamamessiah held by his loyal apostles, it had such an impact on some of the people there to either flee the bar or on the spot decide that were going to vote for McCain.

Stop the Madness In Darfur

It's completely out of control in this area and the loss of human life, as well as the the sheer terror of the ongoing events can not be ignored. The UN, in their own turtle like movement ways, has been incredibly slow to do anything to stop the bloodshed. President Bush was completely correct in his assessment that the events in Darfur are a total genocidal event. A great deal of peace keepers are needed in this region. The attempts of the UN have not been strong enough, neither has the AU, and if the Sudanese government can not accept the peace keepers then the government itself is failing the people of this region in the Sudan in a horrific way. President Bush has been stellar in Africa with the aid he has given this nation and the lives that the aid has saved. We, the Sudanese, and the international community, are failing the people of the Sudan for not being more proactive and putting people on the ground who can stop the atrocities being committed. I have long spoke out against the Clinton administration for not being more pro-active during the Rwandan genocides, and I am equally disappointed in the Bush administration for not helping out more in this situation as well. I understand that the left's war on the War on Terrorism has severely limited President Bush to push through a great number of agendas that relate to military activities during the last year of his tenure as the leader of the free world, but he should push hard on this issue, as it is one that the entire world can rally around. Even China, who has come around on the issue, should be pushed hard to advocate the proper course of action, and in doing so, he can do both the moral and correct thing while further illustrating a legacy as one of the greatest humanitarian leaders to push for the modernization and advancement of Africa.

Chavez Caught Funding Terrorist FARC Organization, Leaves Money Trail, Threatens War on Colobmia

Hugo Chavez is an insane lunatic who has tried to model himself after Jozef Stalin for quite sometime and despite his own losses at home with his totalitarian efforts at "reforming" Venezuela's constitution, he continues to try and do as much damage to as many human beings as humanly possible. This is a case of life imitating the works of Trey Parker and Matt Stone, in this case "Team America", but instead of Kim Jong-Il, it's Hugo Chavez. Sean Penn, Kevin Spacey, Danny Glover, etc, have all crotch nozzled this terrorist dictator and denounced their own nation for opposing his murderous way. Well, he is threatening war with Colombia after Colombia took the pro-active steps of defending themselves from the cocaine peddling, civilian murdering, civilian kidnapping (and many other horrific acts) FARC organization by taking out one of their leaders who was hiding in Ecuador. Here's how Chavez decided to eulogize the human waste known as Raul Reyes and Colombia's legitimate means of defending itself:

The Venezuelan called the rebel leader's death the "cowardly assassination" of a "good revolutionary."

This guy was a "good revolutionary" in what way Chavez, as murderous scum? Here's the Wikipedia entry on Raul Reyes, you'll be especially interested in this point:

His possible presence on Ecuadorian territory was alleged by Colombian President Álvaro Uribe in late 2006. Ecuador's authorities have rejected this claim. Not too much of a surprise that one of Chavez's puppet's would deny this claim, but guess what? Turns out Colombian intelligence was spot on. Reyes was in Ecuador, and for quite sometime. Glad they nailed him. To further illustrate just what kind of horse Chavez had on this race, consider that he was "negotiating" with FARC to have some of their hostages released in an effort to build up his rep a bit in the face of the international community. The documents on the computer of Raul Reyes, the second in

Venezuela.

Naranjo said the FARC, as the group is known, was seeking
to buy 50 kilos of uranium for bomb making with aim of getting
involved in international terrorism.

Ah, so Chavez has a working relationship with FARC, which I'm sure would have led to the release of a few hostages under Chavez's "leadership" with a terrorist organization with whom he had a two way relationship in terms of the flow of money. Not only that, but Chavez has a taste for the cocaine that FARC peddles, which has been documented before. While the funding of a left wing terrorist group isn't exactly surprising to me, it's the other piece of intelligence that the Colombians have gathered that is alarming. FARC was actively seeking to purchase "50 kilos of uranium for bomb making." The fact that a terrorist organization was openly seeking uranium is horrible news in and of itself, but given the fact that 50 pounds is pretty much a universally accepted as the exact amount needed to produce a devastating bomb even if half way competent thugs were to get their hands on it, should set off alarm bells. The Venezuelan dictator has a working relationship with the Iranians who are already getting pounds of the material from the Russians and have developed even more efficient centrifuges over the last year. It's not too much of a stretch to contemplate whether or not FARC was doing the dirty work for Chavez, who would stand to gain an enormous amount of money and God knows what else from the Iranians, for providing them with enough nuclear material to construct a gigantic bomb under the refinement process of these new centrifuges in a worst case scenario. At best case scenario we have Chavez trying to conduct his own operation for use against the "American Devil". Either way, that intelligence may be the key to Chavez's freak out over Colombia's self defense actions and why he threatened war so quickly. It appears Colombia got the best of him and the Ecuadorian government as well as they wasted no time in sharing this intel with the world. Let's hope they wake up.

Pay key attention to the last part of Rear Adm. Smith's comments. Syria has long been known as a path way for non-Iraqis, who are and have been the main portion of al-Qaeda in Iraq's fighters, to enter into Iraq to victimize civilians and attack our troops. The same can be said for Iran, who is training and arming terrorists from the other side of the nation. Which brings me to a greater point that needs to made. A great portion of the problems with Iraq are due to forces outside of Iraq. We are essentially fighting a proxy war with other terrorist states and "free agent" terrorist who devastating Iraq. The Iraqis themselves are coming together and fighting al-Qaeda, and further proof of internal and true Iraqi reconciliation can be found when you see Shiites, Sunnis, and Kurds, all calling for the withdrawal of Turkish forces from the Kurdish areas. While much debate can be had over the operations that the Turks are carrying out, in terms of Iraqi solidarity, it should not be overlooked that all factions within the nation denounce the activities as an invasion of the sovereignty. Indeed, the PKK needs to dealt with in an equitable fashion, but don't think for one minute that all factions in Iraq coming together with regard to this issue is some minor detail that should be overlooked.

UN Can't Put Two and Two Together to Save Their Lives

I'm not an isolationist by any means, but I would never, ever, surrender one ounce of our sovereignty to any entity, most especially the UN. First, the UN, to their credit I suppose has issued a new round of sanctions (yes, the third round, the first two of course had....no impact) on Iran for concealing their nuclear aspirations. However, when Ahmadinejad continually goes on and on about "radiating" soldiers from Iran smashing Israel and "wiping Israel off the map," you'd have to be pretty slow not to pick up exactly how big of a threat they are and that, in fact, their efforts are not peaceful. Many others as well as myself have continually talked about this subject. Even with these blatantly obvious truths about Iran in the plain view of the world, and with the Iranian backed terrorist organization, Hamas consistently firing hundreds of rockets at Israeli civilians, the U.N. condemns Israel for defending themselves against these terrorist strikes? The UN, if they want to maintain any appearance of not being painfully transparent anti-Israeli might at least want to show up and see the proof that the rockets being fired at Israel by Hamas were manufactured and delivered by Iran. Even as the international community says they want to take a "tough" stand against Iran, they go out of their way to blast Israel for engaging in the self defense tactics necessary for the their own survival against Iranian backed terrorist organizations who receive their funding and in some cases training from their Iranian overlords. They have dragged their feet and allowed Iran to develop faster centrifuges in their quest to develop a nuclear arsenal and are able to get most of the world to look the other way while they outsource their blood lust to terrorist groups.

Al-Qaeda In Somalia Hit

Here's hoping we got him. We took out a big target in Somalia a while back so these types of strikes have a track record of success. The embassy bombing in Kenya was particularly devastating and the attempted murder of Israeli citizens while traveling on a passenger craft should tell you all need to know about this sub-human's desire to murder civilians. The attack was a little risky and you don't pull the trigger unless you have a very high probability of hitting the target and our military rarely misses their mark.

House Democrats Attack Oil Industry; Threaten to Raise Price of Gasoline and Heating Oil

Nearly unbelievable, but then, this is the Democratic Party after all, basically the American equivalent of the Chinese Communist Party. I know a good number of the people who are on the Left side of the political spectrum will consider that an unfair argument, but let's take a look at just how socialist of an antic this destined to be vetoed bill is:

1. Levy's a tax on single industry by $18 billion dollars.

2. Is a transfer tax to inefficient sector of the energy industry ("alternative sources") which are more than capable of making advances on their own within the free market. Consider this article to from IBDeditorials.com, the first few sentences sum up the bio-diesel industry extremely well:

In 2005, America used 15% of its corn crop to replace just 2% of its gasoline. Two new studies say use of biofuels will leave the world a warmer and hungrier place.

Stick around for the part about how much higher in carbon emissions it is in comparison to oil.

3. Completely irresponsible, especially when the reason that the Democrats give for their need to raise taxes on oil is due to "record oil prices and gasoline costs in a time of economic troubles." So raising taxes on oil companies and effectively further increasing the price of gas and heating oil as well as plastics, etc will somehow be good for the economy? It will be good during an economically mild environment to punish a successful industry and punish consumers by artificially raising prices even further? Astonishing. Please reference the previous post about the Democrats' need for economic woes for political purposes. It has nothing to do with the American citizens.

4. Further expansion on my point about the negative impact it will have on consumers and investors is that a raise in taxes on the oil industry, in which many, many workers, from the bottom on up, have investments in their 401(k)s, IRAs, etc. This will negatively impact the bottom line on everyone from workers to the industry itself.

5. Jim McDermott (D-WA) calls the tax bracket that the oil companies are in a "subsidy". Interesting where he and the other Democrats fail to leave out the part where the world-wide effective tax rate on oil companies was 37% in 2006 compared to 35% in 2001, which is above the top US corporate tax bracket of 35% as it is (statistics from Energy Information Administration's Annual Financial Reporting System). Tax rates above even the tax rate can in no way be qualified as a "subsidy."

6. The House Democrats are essentially attacking the Oil industry in order to give a kick back to their friends who have undoubtedly invested heavily in alternative energy sources, while attempting to villainize a sector of our economy vital to our economic health and national security in an attempt to further their class warfare rhetoric.

I'm not basing alternative energy as a means to bring more stability to the energy market, but the Democrats are transparent in the effort to produce energy at home, they simply do not want that either. Refinery capacity remains a serious issue for our nation. The Democrats have consistently opposed efforts to build new refineries to help provide the energy needs of our nation. In fact, as energy demand has grown over time, their interference with the free market in this area is leading directly to higher costs. Indeed, technology has greatly improved since the last time we actually built a refinery and should a new one be built, then these the new plants would be much more efficient and safer than existing facilities.

Opposing the exploration and drilling of areas close to home is another example of the Democrats are lying about their desire to have our national security protected by providing for the production of our energy needs within our soil. Natural gas and coal are plentiful in this country and one of the most promising technologies that results in, ahem, "cleaner" energy is liquefied coal, something they will not fully support either. Ethanol has proven to be inefficient as an energy source, and even if the Democrats were serious about that, then where is the drum beating to eliminate the tariffs from ethanol imported from Brazil? Even now, as the price of wheat and corn rises to record highs, we are not hearing the Democrats decry the evils of farm subsidies as this is one of the large organizations that help control the Democratic Party.

Nuclear is another area where the Democrats show their true colors on the energy policy. We have not built a reactor in quite a long time, despite the fact that the technological advances are far greater since the 1970s and the technology can be rolled out rapidly and would further help the economy in utilizing plutonium sources within our shores. They constantly use fear tactics with regard to nuclear energy to discourage its usage.

With regard to wind and solar these are only regional fixes, not national. I find it extremely difficult to believe that somehow it would benefit Alaska (of which some parts do not have sunlight for very long periods of time) to use solar as opposed to oil and natural gas, of which it is bountiful. Over time these technologies will be improved and become an integral part of our economy and infrastructure, however, to lie to the American people about the speed of the roll out and the progress of the technologies at the current time is simple reckless.

Alternative energy sources can and will be developed in the future with the same thing that has been successful for American since our inception. Ingenuity, hard work, and within the framework of the free market. Democrats have long since claimed that they want to help the average American and decry the loss of manufacturing jobs, but their callous interference into the auto industry has cost the jobs they now claim were somehow "stolen" by other nations. They caused this to happen by interfering with the free market. Americans will buy smaller, more fuel efficient cars as the price of gas naturally rises. To force this process to occur faster than it normally would occur retards the system and causes damages.

While I in no way mean to disparage the burgeoning and promising technologies of tomorrow and I encourage their growth, to apply a socialist style of tax on the oil companies and cause an artificial rise in prices for every single American is indefensible. While the economy is growing at a clip slightly above 0% (no, it's not a recession) it is incredulous that the Democrats would pursue a tax raise and cause record high prices of gas to go even higher. To help rectify the situation providing some more oil and natural gas licenses in domestic territories as well as allowing refineries to be constructed would be most beneficial. Additional tax breaks should be given to the developers of cleaner, more efficient technologies if the Democrats truly wish to allow for greater growth in these new technologies, not inefficient subsides in the form of taking from the oil companies according to their ability and giving it to Al Gore's investment portfolio according to their needs, ala Karl Marx. However, low tax rates, not playing class warfare, and being pro-growth are not the hallmarks of the Democratic Party. I would like to ask you to keep in mind that this is just the tip of the iceberg should the Democrats win the election. At that point, any entity, business, or private, making any sort of profit and having any extra money in their pockets will be fair game for the Democrats to attempt to pick clean. Remember this well come November.

Sam Zell Blasts Doomsayer Democrats

He came out swinging on his appearance on Squawk Box, specifically calling out Obama and Hillary for their nonsensical apocolyptic view of the economy:

Speaking on "Squawk Box" this morning, Zell attributed much of the current economic troubles to fear-mongering and politicking by Democratic presidential contenders Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama.

"Obviously what we have going on is an attempt to create a self-fulfilling prophecy," said Zell, chairman of Equity Investments Group and owner of the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Tribune, Los Angeles Times and other companies. "We have two Democratic candidates who are vying with each other to describe the economic situation worse.

"The reality is that if you live on Wall Street and you're in the credit markets the world couldn't be worse. If you're a farmer and you're getting $25 for your wheat, you're having a great time. If you're a CEO and you've got a balance sheet that's bullet-proof, you're in a great position. This whole thing is way out of control, way out of hand."

What he's saying is very true. The Democrats desperately need for the economy to take a hard slide, much in the same way they need Iraq to take a slide, but unfortunately for the Democrats, neither is going to occur. Much as Iraq is becoming stronger on its own feet, it has now become apparent (as I have posted on before) that the economy is not going to go into a recession, so they need to drum up as much negativity and fear that they can as they always do during election season. Their rhetoric revolves around, "if you don't vote for us, you will lose everything you own," and it's down right irresponsible and reprehensible behavior. Oh, and lest I need to remind you, the MSM, which is the propaganda wing of the Democratic party will do all they can to try and capitalize on this fear and do the dirty work for the Democrats. Today's evidence? How about this article from the Chicago Sun-Times, "Clinton Holds Roundtable With Economy Victims." Victims? What, did the economy come up from behind them and bludgeon them with a tire iron? What's even funnier about this headline besides the ultra-bias is that by using the term "victim," connotatively it implies that the economy is a criminal thug of some sort. Well, that's further proof that the Democrat's philosophy is that the pesky economy hasn't plunged into recession and is hurting their chances in November, therefore it must be villainized.

While Zell and many others see Bernake's signals toward making another rate cut, on this point I will admit I'm skeptical. I think the Fed may be pursuing the wrong policy here. I think the real danger with regard to our economy right now is the surging inflation rate. I understand that in the current situation where capital should be freed a bit more in order to help financial institutions gain a bit more capital, but tinkering with the inflation rate will only help so much. Many financial institutions and those who took loans both made mistakes by either not correctly filling out their information, lying on forms, doing a poor job of background checks, or other factors. Making it easier to obtain credit keeps this risk, while lowered heavily due to heightened awareness and unfolding of the current situation, in play. However, a prolonged period with low interest rates could very realistically drive inflation even higher which would have an extremely negative impact on the economy felt my many more people than even the credit crisis has affected. I do not believe that that will happen as the Fed has done a very solid job thus far (talk about baptism by fire), but the situation will have to monitored with extreme care.

All this leads Israel into the most dire of situations. With Islamic radicals being increasingly backed by openly hostile nations who will in the near future have the means and will to drop weapons of mass destruction upon them, it becomes that much more important that the United States and other nations step up efforts to stop this reality from occurring (we most likely have less than one year).

Someone stop the madness! We're actually getting colder! Wait, that shouldn't be a celebratory statement I think, aw, screw it, I love watching bobsledding. So for all the insane lies we've been getting fed by the lefties on this issues (search my archives for a tip of the ICEberg on what I mean and then research the rest) it is becoming more and more apparent that ManBearPig is the Loch Ness Monster of the scientific community. Case in point? NASA, among other organizations, and not just in the United States, but Russia among other nations, are pointing towards the encroaching reality that, SHOCK, the sun is responsible for our global temperature and climate issues than anything else (in fact, minimally from man) and that we are actually headed toward a cycle where the patterns of the sun are going to lead to a cooling of global temperatures. Another case in point? How about this article that warns of a coming Ice Age (another extreme view but at least is a bit more honest than Al Gore) that points to RISING ice levels and colder global temperatures since the year 2000. General consensus? Money talks, and Al Gore is losing a good deal right now as he and the envirofascits are scurrying to cover up the reality of what is actually occurring. That reality? Man is not causing a great deal of environmental impact by using fossil fuels. The sun's surface activity is actually doing the vast, vast majority of temperature and weather change. The problem? The left needs to hush this up with the quickness lest their plan for a global re-distribution of wealth fail to materialize. Check out some facts from this article that appeared on Yahoo for example:

"If the intent is to achieve a comparable effort on the part of developing countries, then that is not realistic and not in line with what was agreed in Bali," de Boer said.

So the UN said that the United State's committing to a multinational cut in CO2 output wasn't good? For what reason? For the the fact that developing nations, the heaviest polluter (China), and those with lower Per Capita Incomes, should not be included in their agreement because it would be "unfair?" Can a SCAM be any further exposed?

The UN and their lefty friends true disagreement to President Bush's administration complete and total disembowelment of the enviro-fascists argument is that it would undermine their Marxist and World Government leftist agenda. They are attempting to take the accumulated wealth of nations, through their own hard work and ingenuity, and give them to the poorer nations, the complete narrative of Karl Marx. While I do not rail against all international agreements and organizations, indeed, we need many of these in the world today, this one is utterly transparent. However, when the Leftists and the UN are attempting to use a scare tactic to re-distribute the world's wealth in such a manner (China is a larger polluter and emitter than the US but should be exempt where the US should be punished) and have their political leaders profit off such a deal, one wonders if we should completely re-examine our position with the UN....of whom we are the largest donors and provide a headquarters....whom also is our largest critic......well, you see where this is going.

Satellite Shoot-Down: TOTAL SUCCESS

How awesome is this? I waited a little bit, but was amazed from the time that it occured, a ten second window of opportunity to knock down an orbiting satellite from a mobile Navy vessel? Wow, somewhere Ronald Regan is smiling ear to ear. The fuel tank? Yea, check this out:

The Pentagon said Monday it has a "high
degree of confidence" that the missile fired at a dead U.S. spy
satellite in space destroyed the satellite's fuel tank as planned.

In its most definitive statement yet on the outcome of last Wednesday's
shootdown over the Pacific, the Pentagon said that based on debris
analysis it is clear that the Navy missile destroyed the fuel tank,
"reducing, if not eliminating, the risk to people on Earth from the
hazardous chemical."

The Chinese have asked for the locations of where the possibly sensitive material gathered from the spy satellite will fall...sure, we'll get right on that China. In terms of missile defense, this is the best news possible. Mobile missile defense at that. Of course the best short-term news is that a large satellite will not be falling to the Earth causing a great deal of harm both from impact as well as the hazardous materials contained within the fuel tank. In terms of long term future, it raises great confidence in developing an international system to help protect the Earth from the impacts of celestial objects, something where the international community could actually rally around. Though I run the risk of sounding like some sort of sci-fi geek with that last sentiment, it's something that is at least rationally feasible in the long term future. Short-term, however, missile defense needs to be pushed forward for the security of the American people. We have just protected ourselves from an impact object that was projected to impact North America with an amazing display of American ingenuity and technological advancement. Though I reject Russia and China's condemnation of our missile defense program as well as the satellite shoot down, I will concede that the satellite shoot down probably did speed up the Czech Republic (one of our greatest current allies) into signing on to our missile defense program being developed in Eastern Europe. The Obama Photo Flap

Here's the story and the photo, something you're all fully aware of by now I'm sure. While the rumor of Obama being some sort of undercover Muslim are not true and wearing the garb of another nation is somewhat of tradition, there's a few things that can not be overlooked and a disturbing pattern is emerging. Another issue that I'm sure you are aware of is the radicalization of Somalia, going back to the Black Hawk incident while Bill Clinton was our president. The garb he's wearing in this photo, while in Kenya, is that of Somalian origin, where there is most definitely a terrorist problem. What's going on in Kenya is extremely serious as well, though that has little bearing on the photo flap, it is something that we all need to be aware of as Africa has largely been ignored by US policy except under the Bush Administration, where he is largely celebrated as a hero across the continent, and kudos go to him and everyone else in the United States who is trying to rally greater attention to the genocide in Darfur, something President Bush should be commended for as the UN refuses to call it a genocide. That being said, the pattern that is emerging with Obama is one of complete ignorance on foreign affairs. He is a tremendous orator, and he is correct that we should never give up on hopes and dreams, no rational personal should ever make an argument to the contrary. However, when you have a person who is running to be commander in chief who is not aware that he may be dressing in the garb of terrorists who celebrated the murder of American troops in Mogadishu, who openly wants to meet with world dictators, while trashing allies such as Pakistan, and is willing to allow the Iraqi people to face a genocide that will rival or surpass Darfur by not staying and protecting them, then there is a serious problem with his world view. Regardless of what the stance of any politician was before Congress, in a bipartisan fashion, authorized the War in Iraq, if you you think of it as a mistake or a correct decision, it would a horrible decision to leave the Iraqis to slaughter and the accompanying violence that will befall their nation. Once the decision was made to go to war a commitment was also made to stand by the Iraqis to see their nation rebuilt and the defend the citizens of Iraq until their new government blossomed. Now, you can make the argument that the Iraqi government has not developed quickly enough, and that is fair, but then, how quickly, in our highly developed democracy, does our government move? To have gone into Iraq and engaged in war, only to leave them before we fulfill the commitments we made to help the people of Iraq would make us liars and hypocrites in their eyes. The possibility of electing Barack Obama has become increasingly problematic in my view, as he has time and again shown that he is willing to take risks and moral stands, indeed levy threats, only against allies, while looking to appease and negotiate with Tyrants and Dictators (i.e. Raul Castro, Kim Jong Il, Hugo Chavez, etc) and Terrorists (Ahmadinejad, et al), sends exactly the wrong signal to anyone who would love to cause us harm. If you threaten the United States openly, he will give you his ear. If not, he will scorn you until you do. That, my friends, is the problem with his foreign policy attitude.

Bush Administration and Vatican Appeal to Castro II to Allow for Cubans to Actually Have Rights

No worries, though, Barack Obama stands ready to appease Raul in any way possible...along with Ahmadinejad, Kim Jong Il, Hugo Chavez, dictators everywhere, while threatening to invade our allies in nuclear armed Pakistan. What amazes me is that with Fidel having been dead for a few years now and Raul having run the show for the same time span, that our lovely media still found time to fellate Fidel, most notably CNN, who caused an unbelievable amount of human suffering on the island nation of Cuba. Real change won't occur with Raul or any of the other old guard, hard core communist thugs running the show. I hope Fidel and Che are enjoying their stays in whatever Circle of Hell the devil found fit for them. The people of Cuba deserve their freedom and I would like to thank the Cuban people, especially, in places like Little Havana, who have shown the world their express desire to be free people and expose to world to Fidel's sadisitc behavior. The media wanted to wonder why there weren't more widespread celebrations at the news that one of the Media and American left's icons "stepped down" from the presidency? Because the people of Cuba know that, unfortunately, it's going to take a lot more than the Cuban government taking the first step towards admitting Fidel has been rotting in the ground for a while now, to really change the situation in Cuba. Obama's love for dictators notwithstanding, if Raul doesn't see the light (which he almost assuredly won't) then we should view the Cuban government for what it is, a bunch of thugs usurping the right of the people to live freely and we need to show the world that we will reach out to and help the Cuban people while exposing the world to just how tyrannical the communists calling the shots on the island are.

"Can NATO Take A Tough Line When Putin Shows Up at its Summit?" No....of course not. NATO can't even get their act together to protect Afghanistan where the Taliban is even going to the great lengths of threatening cell phone carriers as the US is picking them off one by one when they ask, "where you at?" though they are most definitely not using Boost Mobile. NATO is becoming increasingly knock-kneed, which is truly a shame. Consider this passage from the article regarding Putin:

Ukraine that it could become a target of Russia's nuclear missiles if
it joined the alliance. Last Friday, his official onlooker at NATO

Russia is stepping up it's rhetoric in a major way and threatening to point it's nuclear arsenal towards Eastern Europe should be a major cause of concern. I'm really not holding my breath for NATO go strongly criticize these words though. However, you can imagine what would be the reaction of our media and the hard left had Bush uttered a threat to point offensive nuclear weapons towards, North Korea, let's say. Outrage. Where's the left on this one? They hate armed conflict and protest President Bush at every opportunity but where's the outrage with Putin? Hmmmm....

Off in the horizon, you can practically see the dark clouds gathering. Russia has been increasingly hostile in its relations with a number of nations who are engaging in treaties with NATO and Western Powers. They are refusing to let go of the mentality of the East v. West even after the Iron Curtain was torn asunder and the Soviet Union fell. It would appear that in Putin's mind the consolidation of power and squashing of dissent is his best way forward, and that, my friends, is most definitely not good news for the world.

Leftist Media Forced to Admit that Economy is not going into Recession

If you knew anything about economics you already knew this. Like a typical far left tactic, this little pipe dream of theirs fell far, far short. A recession occurs when two quarters of negative growth occurs. I laughed every time I heard ABC, CNN, NBC, etc go out and tell the general public not only would one occur, but that we were ALREADY in one...which was a ridiculous lie. We had positive growth last quarter. We weren't in a recession. Now they are admitting that just because for the first time since Clinton left office and handed over a recession to the current administration, we weren't seeing such large percentages of growth, that doesn't mean that a recession is going to happen. I can hear the lefties now, "DRAT! We needed that narrative for the elections." Yea, well, you can only lie so long before people do some research and verify that, yes, the left wing was using their typical scare tactics....and lying...again. Expect the narrative to change for them as soon as they figure out which element of fear and insecurity will work best for them.

Outgoing Comptroller of GAO Blast Government Irresponsibility

David Walker went off today on our inefficient and increasingly backward government. While I disagree with the portion on Iraq, (yes, the Iraqi government needs to step up some more but they have produced some good legislation lately that is helping the country towards a slow reconciliation. Besides, if they are using our government as a model, it's amazing they are overcoming partisan rifts at all) he's spot on with regard to many issues:

David Walker, comptroller general of the Government Accountability
Office (GAO) has since 1998 been the objectively informed and outspoken
critic of America's balance sheet. He has criticized supporting Iraq's
dysfunctional government, pork barrel spending by Congress, unrealistic
"universal health care plans" we can ill-afford or support, the
escalating risks of huge deficits, fiscal vulnerability to hostile
foreign governments, and a lack of will to reform our government.

Pork is completely out of control in Congress, and while I salute President Bush for stepping up and putting a halt to earmarks in the short term, it is something he should have done from the first day he was sworn in as president. Universal Health Care would be devastating to our budget and our economy as private sector jobs and economic competition would be shattered. The free market and indeed advances in the health care field would be stifled, as would the economy as a whole due to an astronomical increase in taxes. Additionally, if the left truly cared about encroachments on our civil liberties, there would be no rationality in giving our government every single detail of our health records. While the FISA remains controversial in its impact on a small portion of the population who is in direct contact with suspected terrorist, the left is looking for any reason to hand over health care records in violation of our right to privacy as given to us by our Constitution.

The deficit is another issue that must be addressed immediately, and the proper way to do so is not to raise taxes and adopt anti-growth, protectionist policies that the Democratic Party is urging. This will only restrict growth and lower government revenues. Rather, the tax rates should be preserved, if not lowered further, in order to assist small businesses, investors, and indeed, every tax payer in America as the Bush Tax Cuts have lowered the rates on ALL tax payers. To really address the deficit issues, spending in the government must be slashed significantly. A Balanced Budget Amendment is desirable but must be done in a way that provides for national emergencies in terms of natural disasters and national defense, where discretionary spending must be dropped to provide for the common defense while not incurring further debt. Ideally, the best way forward would be to reduce spending to a point where, with the lower tax rates, we could run a surplus which can be used to cut the national debt. In turn, this would reduce the threat that China and other nations pose to us by threatening to flood the world market with our dollar, an economic hostage holding of sorts. This will also strengthen the dollar and benefit every American as our currency would appreciate greatly in value. It's high time the government steps up to the plate and addresses these issues, but the leftist policies of Obama and Clinton will not do it, in fact, they will only make matters much, much worse.

Venezuela Cuts off Oil to Exxon

That's right folks. Exxon had the audacity to try to protect its assets in Venezuela in the face of the socialist scourge, a move completely in line with the free market, and the socialist hoard in Venezuela just stopped selling fuel to Exxon. Part of the reason that Chavez's people made this move was that Exxon recently had won a court order to freeze assets that belonged to their company after the socialists attempted to seize them. Exxon was essentially the last oil company to actively put up a fight against Chavez's goons and had proven in court that they were on the right side of international law, only to see Venezuela now stop the flow of oil to Exxon. Expect this to have a pretty large impact on the price per gallon of gas in the States very soon. Exxon was completely within their right to protect their assets. What the socialists claim is thus:

State-run Petroleos de Venezuela SA, or PDVSA, said in a statement that
it "has paralyzed sales of crude to Exxon Mobil." It said the decision
was made "as an act of reciprocity" for the company's
"judicial-economic harassment."

Reciprocity for Exxon's proving their case in various courts across the world that what Venezuela had done by attempting to hijack Exxon assets? The law is on Exxon's side here. The "judicial-economic harassment" that PDVSA speaks of is the international courts and rule of law among free nations. It's a typical left wing tactic of ignoring existing laws and doing what you feel like doing in order to shore up your personal bottom line while claiming it's a move "for the people." As if losing a major purchaser of your main export will actually help the people of Venezuela. The only person profiting off of this is Chavez and his inner circle. Since various reforms from the thug Chavez went into effect the economy in Venezuela has decreased, and this move will only add to their woes, and most likely ding us a bit too as the price per gallon of gas will impact us. Chavez has essentially engaged in an economic form of terrorism and acted in open defiance against courts of law, which had already handed them defeats, so Chavez's folks are simply making a play for as much cash as humanly possible in the short the run while doing serious damage to themselves in the long run.

A terrorist had attempted to turn a landmine into a different type of weapon in order to inflict casualties against NATO and American forces in Afghanistan only blow himself and two of his sons up. Two others were also killed but their bodies were taken from the site before authorities showed up, which begs the question as to why that was done. None the less, at least there's one less terrorist scum out there actively seeking to hurt members of our Armed Forces. I hope everyone in the Taliban took the same bomb making class as this guy.

Ed Rendell Believes Pennsylvanians Are Racists

Have I ever mentioned how much I can't stand Ed Rendell? As I'm sure you are all keenly aware of by now, Rendell has been a big time Hillary backer and is now realizing that Hillary is no longer "inevitable" to gain the Democratic nod to appear in the General Election in November. So Ed Rendell decides that it is best to illustrate why he is endorsing her by accusing Pennsylvanians of being racist. Here's some highlights:

“You’ve got conservative whites here, and I think
there are some whites who are probably not ready to vote for an
African-American candidate,” Rendell told the editorial board of the
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette in remarks that appeared in Tuesday’s paper.

To buttress his point, Rendell cited his 2006
re-election campaign, in which he defeated Republican challenger Lynn
Swann, the former Pittsburgh Steelers star, by a margin of more than 60
percent to less than 40 percent.

“I believe, looking at the returns in my election,
that had Lynn Swann been the identical candidate that he was —
well-spoken, charismatic, good-looking — but white instead of black,
instead of winning by 22 points, I would have won by 17 or so,” he
said. “And that (attitude) exists. But on the other hand, that is
counterbalanced by Obama’s ability to bring new voters into the
electoral pool.”

Let's examine the asinine assertions one at time. First, you've got Fast Eddy Rendell playing identity politics, one of the corner stones of the Democratic Party in general which is shameful all on it own. Second, Rendell specifically mentions "conservatives," which is even more asinine seeing as how it's the upcoming Democratic primary to which he is referring. Does he really believe that the democratic base is conservative? If so, he is definitely using some sort of illegal substance. What he is attempting to do is say that in the general election, if Democrats nominate Obama, that white people will have none of it, so you'd better do as he says and vote for Hillary. Nonsense. That issue has been dead since Obama won Iowa, where there is an overwhelming population that is white. I am personally offended every single time I hear an idiot Democrat spout off about how Republicans are racists and have no evidence to back this up what-so-ever. Republicans ended slavery, passed the Civil Rights Act, had the first two African-American Secretaries of State, the first Latino Attorney General, and so on. The Dems of course, will have no problem saying that if Hillary doesn't get that nod that America is a sexist nation, which you are seeing some feminist groups already doing. It's it utterly pathetic that the Democrats can refuse to believe that elections are won and lost based on ideas and records of ethics.

Next, Rendell takes a swipe at Lynn Swann, who Rendell viciously lied about during the last gubernatorial races in one of the most negative campaigns I can remember. Swann was an excellent candidate who was running as an outsider, ready to step in and help fix many of the problems that have hurt Pennsylvania. Rendell's attack machine went after him with a fever. Without the funds, the insiders, and the muscles that Rendell had, Swann lost the race. To say that he would have "only" beat Swann by 17 instead of 22 is a joke. I listed the reasons why Rendell won, none of which had to do with race, but all of which hurt our state by having him as Governor. According to Rendell and a great deal of the Democrats out there, Swann should have won the majority of the African American vote if you follow their racial identity politics. The Clintons have shamelessly pursued that aspect since South Carolina and Bill Clinton finally got partially exposed for what he really is in doing so. So what are the new voters that Obama will bring in when he loses the racist PA voters Rendell? What "new voters" are you referring to?

What this goes to further illustrate is how the Democratic Party works. They will always have a built in excuse. They will always say that they believe in the democratic republic in which we live but take shots at it every chance they have. They will divide people in to groups and then chastise groups who do not follow along on the leash the Democrats have crafted. Rendell's insertion of "conservative whites" is simply an unwarranted, untruthful, and shameless attack on Republicans, who just last election cycle elected an African American to represent the Republican Party in the race for the position of governor. Ed Rendell is a liar and a race baiter.

The Reactions of Seeking the Death Penalty for 9/11 Collaborators

Reuters published an article last night about the reactions the candidates had to the news that we would be seeking the death penalty through military tribunals for six terrorists who were involved with the 9/11 attacks. Here are the highlight, by candidate:

John McCain:

The front-runner for the Republican presidential
nomination, Arizona Sen. John McCain, said charges against the
alleged conspirators were long overdue.

"This is something that should have, in my view I'm sorry
that it's taken so long. Let's begin this process," McCain
said.

Barack Obama:

"Of course, we should ensure that the planners and
perpetrators of 9/11 are brought to justice, and the death
penalty is appropriate for whomever committed such heinous
crimes. But these trials will need to be above reproach," Obama
said.

"These trials are too important to be held in a flawed
military commission system that has failed to convict anyone of
a terrorist act since the 9-11 attacks and that has been
embroiled in legal challenges," he added.

Got that? Sen. McCain believes the system works and the enemy combatants who have declared war on the United States under the structure of a terrorist organization should be tried in the military tribunals and have their sentences handed down accordingly. He believes that the terrorists who conspired to murder over 3,000 people on 9/11 should be given justice through the military tribunals that were created long ago to handle situations like these. Remember, these are terrorists who are not part of a traditional military organization for another nation, which would be treated with much different regard. He stands behind the solid system that we have in place for handling these situations.

On the other hand, you have Obama, who is essentially saying that the tribunal system is flawed, that the military and the authorizations that were set up to handle this situations, are incapable of doing so. He says that the system has failed to convict anyone of a terrorist act since 9/11, and technically that may be true since there have been no domestic terror attacks since 9/11. By playing word games and talking ill of our military and the justice system that we have in place, he is not doing anything to help the country. Rather, he is damaging our nation's reputation by deriding the system. Earlier in the article he suggests domestic courts and domestic military trials (i.e. like one of our soldiers would receive), but that is outrageous. Terrorist should in no way, shape or form, have the same rights as you or I. That is simply asinine to believe that people hell bent on destroying our way of life, court systems included, should be treated in the same manner a United States citizen enjoys. These monsters have an ongoing declaration of war with the United States and are not citizens (i.e. domestic terrorists) and therefore will and should be treated differently and the tribunal system is precisely where this matter should be handled. Obama is flat out wrong on this issue. To grant terrorists the rights of our citizens in domestic courts makes it that much easier for them to plot and commit attacks. I wouldn't exactly call our justice system expedient and rest assured, you'll see the ACLU and other groups flock to the aid of terrorists for their little political purposes, all the while endangering the public. It's a dangerous position and one that lacks any pure concept of the challenges we face in the fight against global Radical Islamic terrorism.

Only Thing In The Way of Open Records in PA Is Ed Rendell

A solid law that took way too long to hammer out in our Legislature has finally cleared all the hurdles and is heading to Ed Rendell for signature that will help to bring more accountability to the government. It's a fairly brief article, but I'll still highlight two parts for you, first:

Instead of a narrow list of public records, the bill would force agencies to disclose all records beyond a list of exceptions, and the agency would have to prove a record they do not want to release can be secret under the law.

A central office would set policies and deal with disputes about what should be released. Penalties would be stiffer for agencies that violate the law. And it would require state agencies to respond faster when people request records.

Sounds pretty solid to me. The Republicans pretty much set the frame work for this one and the Dems helped out a bit too after the whole Pay Raise fiasco that will still have repercussions come this November. It's another one of those laws that should be in full effect for every state. What bothers me though was this paragraph from the article:

Gov. Ed Rendell will decide whether to sign the bill, which has undergone numerous revisions during the 13 months since it was first proposed, after he reviews its exact language, said Rendell spokesman Chuck Ardo.

He really can't be giving any real thought to vetoing this bill right? Ed Rendell has already made a mockery of the system here in PA, most recently by promoting his insane spending budget that increases spending dramatically, raises some taxes, and provides rebates for only the poorest of the poor, who aren't actually paying taxes anyway (it's called welfare). All this with a state surplus that he easily found a way to spend and then some which is quite remarkable. Rather than provide true tax relief and increase efficiency, he is doing THAT with the budget? Wow. To further demonstrate his economic prowess, he has already pretty much abandoned the idea of giving true property tax relief to seniors, lower class, working families, and the middle class that was supposed to be funded by the slots by miring it in bureaucracy and making it nearly impossible to qualify for, while shifting those revenues into more of his pet projects. Which brings me back to the initial point. I suppose he could actually be giving thought to vetoing this bill given the shenanigans he plays with the budget and pretty much everything else he does.

This should be a good voter guide issue for November and we should get a copy of how the voting went down. Anyone who voted against open records for government is fit to be booted from government regardless of party. You should really take the time to read this article here about concerns some lawmakers had with the bill that got hashed out in the final version. Amazingly, most of the concerns were legit. It turns out this was a pretty solid bipartisan effort.

Russia Steps Up its Rhetoric as Well as Its Tactics, John McCain Called This One

Vladimir Putin has been blazing a path towards centralizing all power within the Russian government under his and his appointed successors' control. He hand-picked Dmirty Medvedev to replace him as President who in turn, announced that he will appoint Vladimir Putin as Prime Minister. Pure power consolidation tactic. The Russian elections were less than fair to say the least and I hope that the Russian people can overcome this obvious heavy handed tactic by Putin and his political allies. The Russians worked hard to overcome the shackles of Communism and re-gain their freedom and we should help them in their quest towards democratic reforms. It seems however, that Putin has moved from being a somewhat moderate leader to a level just below that of a dictator.

You'll recall a few days ago, US war planes were assembled to fend off Russian bombers that were approaching the U.S.S. Nimitz while it was on patrol in the Pacific. This is reason to be concerned indeed, as one of the bombers had actually flown directly over the carrier, "buzzing" it twice during this occurrence. No military actions came of this, no shots fired, etc, but it is worth noting. I remember seeing documentaries about the Cold War where US and Soviet military would routinely "buzz" each other or interact each other, playing antagonist with each other without it ever coming to head and shots being fired. If memory serves me correct, it was especially true with submarine fleets. That being said, it would appear Russia is heading towards more Cold War tactics and actively seeking to engage the United States in every realm that it can.

During Putin's "Farewell Speech," he assailed the U.S. as having touched off a new arm's race by having the audacity to seek to implement missile defense in Eastern Europe that would have positive effects for the vast majority of the world, serving as a buffer against the increasing dangerous Iranian regime in particular as well as the still dangerous North Koreans. Rather than embracing and seeking greater cooperation with NATO and Western Nations, Putin's policies reverted to the tactics of the old Soviet Union and took to seeing the expansion of NATO into Eastern European nations, nations that actively sought membership in the Organization, as a direct threat to Russia. While Putin will hit talking points of respecting Russia's sovereignty, elections, and internal decisions, apparently that idea does not extend to the nations who, on their own, for what they determined to be the best course for their nations, sought out NATO membership. While Putin should be commended for hitting on the points of economic development and fighting terrorism in Russia, it is disappointing and a reason for pause that he would threaten the world with a new arms race unless Russia is appeased at the cost of denying other nation's the right of self-destiny in seeking out alliances.

Prefaced by the information above, it becomes even more imperative to recognize the great threat that may be arising as today Putin announced that it will being to target its offensive nuclear missile capabilities towards Ukraine if Ukraine presses ahead with NATO membership and become part of the U.S. missile shield program. In response to a defensive deployment of the missile shield, Russia is essentially saying that it will target any nation with offensive missiles, that is threaten to possibly hit nations with nuclear missiles should said nations not comply to Russia's demands. For all the wrongful claims that many Democrats lobby against President Bush, imagine their reaction if he had announced a decision to begin targeting our offensive arsenal at Iran, let alone Russia. Yet, the Democrats have been dreadful silent with regard to this issue. It is very troubling that Russia is pursuing this path.

I'll leave you with Sen. McCain's statements from back before the Iowa caucuses in which he is asked about Vladimir Putin and Russia in general. It now sounds almost prophetic and I believe that under a John McCain administration we will be much better situated to meet not just this threat, but other political and military threats to our Republic.

Good News out of Iraq Today

Wow, it's been a pretty good day for the War on Terror. In addition to the news from the previous post, we see today that public support for the War on Terror has hit a three year high, the Russians have forgiven the Iraqi government a massive amount of debt, and al Qaeda's own internal documentation shows just how throughly the forces of the Surge have dismantled al Qaeda in Iraq. All in all, great signs. Let's look at each individually:

1. Even while Democratic leaders have attempted to lie through their teeth about the effort in Iraq and the War on Terror, things have gotten so much better now that the MSM and Democrats have been forced to cut back on the vast lies they've spewed in the past. Pelosi, Clinton, Reid, Obama, and the bunch are still advocating their cut and run policies, as they have long since tied their political futures towards our defeat in the War on Terror. Much like al Qaeda in Iraq, it's failing. The public is starting to see truly, that things are getting much better and the support is coming back. Credit Gen. Petraeus's counter insurgency model immensely for these developments.

2. Some people will dismiss the Russians forgiveness of billions of dollars worth of debt, but it should not be overlooked. In fact, this is even further proof of political reconciliation developing within Iraq's borders. Why? Do you really think that the Russians would be wiping Iraq's debt off the books in order for Russian companies to begin business dealing within Iraq if they thought for one moment that the investments would not pay off? Reconciliation in Iraq is pushing forward, especially after the deal that was reached with former Baathists to allow some of them back in the government. Iraq is making a turn around, albeit a bit slowly, that should be recognized even more so now that foreign investments are starting to trickle into the nation.

3. It's pretty self explanatory when documents are seized that proves that al Qaeda in Iraq themselves are noting how much of beating they are taking from US and Iraqi forces. The only thing I'd like to add to this is the fact that if anything, these documents likely downplay how much of a pounding they are taking. They are being routed.

Again, this has been a great day in the War on Terror and I'm sure we will see many, many more days like this in the very near future. So long as we remain on the offensive, we will win. What we cannot allow is for American politics and those on the Left with high political ambitions to allow our nation to fail to win what is an extremely winnable War while we have our opponents pinned to the ropes.

Mansour Dadullah Captured

Great news on the Afghan front as Mansour Dadullah has been captured. Dadullah took over for his brother as chief terrorist in charge in Afghanistan after the other Dadullah got taken out by our forces. What makes this catch especially strong is that it occurred during the ongoing debate in NATO about supporting the effort in Afghanistan. I'm sure this will only help secure and reaffirm the effort. It's interesting to note as well that he was taken in Pakistan. That's even better yet as I'm sure the Pakistanis will have no problems harshly interrogating Dadullah. It also raises a stronger possibility that al-Qaeda and the Taliban had jointly assassinated Benazir Bhutto. It's also important to note that Dadullah is pretty close with bin Laden as well as Taliban leaders. I hope the Pakistanis milk him for all the information he has that can help the Afghans, the Pakistanis, and the NATO alliance in the fight against global radical Islamic extremism. Very good news indeed.

Dead Dictator Chides John McCain

It's laughable when a communist leader tries to assert moral superiority over democratic leaders to begin with, but it is quite literally a joke when Fidel Castro, who has been dead for sometime now, comes from beyond the grave to chastise John McCain. The communists beef with Sen. McCain? That Sen. McCain stated that a Cuban agent had helped show some of the Vietnamese guards at POW camps certain torture tactics. I don't doubt that for one minute. First of all, communist nations have always stood together and supported each other, a sort of failure support failure comradery. During the Vietnam and Korean Wars, the Chinese had given military support to the communist regimes be it through intel, weapons sales, etc. The old Soviet Union also gave a great deal of support to the Vietnamese during the war. Knowing how close Cuba was the Soviet Union and the communist movement in general, don't think for one moment that they didn't have agents over in Asia during that time period who would have loved to have dolled out some punishment to American G.I.s. The fact that this criticism being leveled comes from Raul Castro, or another element in the current Cuban government, is laughable. The Cuban government has done extensive damage to the Cuban people. I support the Cuban blockade and the call for the government to move toward democratic changes. The Cubans are a proud, strong people, who deserve to have control of their nation back. We should support the Cubans in their effort to regain control of the government as well as the freedoms that many who have fled the communist island now enjoy here in America. Tyrants and criminals like Fidel Castro and Che Guevara were nothing more than thugs with an undying bloodlust who took great pride inflicting pain against the people. Duncan Hunter Vindicated

I know most of us have seen all the Republican debates, and I'm sure most of us also recall a good number of left wing analysts bashing Duncan Hunter for making a good number of anti-Chinese statements and how they violate technological patents and are openly a threat to the United States. Whenever Leftist pundits laugh, rest assured, vindication is right around the corner. Today, two stories break (unrelated stories which is even worse) of Chinese espionage here in the States involving a Department of Defense analyst and Boeing Engineers. From examining the article it seems like these two cases involved sales of weapons to Taiwan and to aerospace programs respectively. This is terrible news, of course. This is most likely a tip of the iceburg. Chinese spying goes back a long way and will continue going forward. We should be glad that these two cases were identified and pursued aggressively by the FBI, but much more work needs to be done. Recognizing this threat is something that should be paramount in the elections, and it will be interesting to see how much air time this gets. You'll recall that the Clintons did everything they could to appease the Chinese and crossed the line with them numerous times. Feel free throw "Clintons" and "Chinese" in Google to remind yourself.

Death Penalty to Be Sought for 6 Terrorists with Ties to 9/11

The most notable of the six is Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, who was the mastermind of the attacks and 5 of his cronies who were instrumental in murdering over 3,000 people on September 11, 2001. Now, the six hardened and psychotic terrorists will finally be facing their rightful fate. As with many issues that are security related, how long before the liberal scourge comes charging to their defense? How long before the ACLU files suit for them? Liberal groups constantly attack the Bush Administration for a variety of outrageous charges while simultaneously espousing idiotic sentiments that somehow the terrorists are not, in fact, evil. It amazes me that people could possibly hold a view like this in today's world. People like KSM have made it their life's mission to murder innocents and to bring down the ways of Western society. It is not America, per say, that they have declared war upon. It is democracy, free speech, free assembly, women's rights, freedom of religion, etc. It's everything that we stand for as a nation. The Democratic Party, in general, can not understand this. They assail President Bush and use the left wing media as a means to bring themselves to power regardless of how it ultimately effects this nation. It becomes that much worse if they recognize that truth about Islamic radical terrorism, yet would choose to ignore this fact for the own political agenda. What that amounts to is psychological support for terrorists, undermining our nation's prestige and ability to hunt down and bring to justice the terrorists who are determined to end our way of life. These six soul-less monsters will go before a military tribunal and receive justice. We should be supporting our government and military with regard to this issue.

The Switch to McCain

I'm going to take a little heat from some people with regard to this decision, which you have probably noticed already due to the new layout here at To The Right of Wrong. It had to be done, and I'm urging Independents, Moderates, Republicans, Conservatives, and Libertarians everywhere to join me in supporting John McCain in his bid for the position of President of the United States. The time has come to support the nominee in waiting.

Gov. Mitt Romney was extremely gracious today in his exit speech given at CPAC, and I suspect we will see him again in the very near future. He ran a wonderful campaign and I commend him for his commitment to America and the people of this great land. Gov. Romney is a true American and person of high integrity and I thank him for his commitment to the Conservative movement and to the democratic process that makes this Republic great. His speech today was one of the best political speeches I have ever seen and I have an enormous amount of respect for Gov. Mitt Romney.

Up until recently, I was supporting Gov. Mike Huckabee, but the situation deems it necessary for Gov. Huckabee to step aside and I'm sure that will not be long now. Gov. Huckabee showed this nation what a grass roots movement truly is about. He represented so many ideas and backed the strongest of moral positions that make this nation great. I have strong reason to believe that Gov. Huckabee is in solid position to be a strong consideration for the Vice President position on McCain's ticket. That being said, it serves no purpose for James Dobson to come out and endorse him today. Why? At this point, with the money machine in full force for the Clintons and Barack Obama, extending the race does nothing more than help the Democrats, a point Gov. Romney made strongly in his exit speech today.

Sen. McCain has been very cordial and praising of Gov. Huckabee, a testament to the Gov. Huckabee's political skills and his innate ability to connect with the average American and what a great number of us hold dear. Gov. Huckabee has likewise been extremely gracious towards Sen. McCain, but to continue the race at this point is simply detrimental in that the limited resources of both candidates will continue to dwindle and while Gov. Huckabee is a great, great candidate, he will not generate 65% of each race from here on out. That's simply realistic. I am happy to have been a strong part of the Huckabee revolution, and what we accomplished with what we had is something truly remarkable.

Back in 2000, I had actually supported Sen. McCain over then Gov. George W. Bush. I've always liked McCain, while tending to have policy disagreements with him, he did what he thought was right and damn the consequences and damn his personal relationships. To some that is something negative. To me, it's a breath of fresh air. It is a testament to the the character of man who would face scorn from his closest friends to do what he truly feels is the right thing to do. That says something strong about the man.

Sen. McCain is committing to defeating the Islamic radicals who have declared way on our very way of life. He knows first hand the toll that war takes. He is a noted Pork Buster, and if my favorite Senator, Tom Coburn, is fully on board, that's just gravy on top. Sen. McCain often raises a voice of reason in a Senate that has been having a love affair with Pork regardless of which party they are in. Sen. McCain fights that battle every time. He will fight against government waste stronger than he has before when he becomes President. He is committed to Iraq. I believe he has learned the lesson of the failed immigration bill, and he will help to rejuvenate our party and add to our numbers.

This Should be a Mandatory Law

In South Carolina, there is a bill in the State Legislature that would require mandatory drug testing for candidates running for public office. This is one of those common sense items that should be a slam dunk bipartisan effort and I hope it becomes law. Drug testing has definitely benefited the private sector and to be honest, I'm quite surprised this isn't a uniform law across all states. Being in the position of being a public servant is an honor and a privilege. I find it repulsive when an elected official engages in such illegal behavior and yet it seems that we have a system where politicians are not held responsible for their actions. Such is the case with Sen. Larry Craig. The guy should have resigned long ago. Regardless of whether what he did was legal or not, such behavior is not acceptable for a public servant. I hope South Carolina passes this law and it spreads like wildfire across the nation. It's high time we place a high, high ethical standard on our elected officials.

Democrats Playing Games with Tax Money in an Attempt to Buy Votes...Again

The Republicans made a solid move today, blocking the fattened stimulus package from advancing in the Senate. The Democrats are making the same accusations that they normally make, but it's pretty apparent that they are using this package in an attempt to buy votes. You'll remember that the package was quickly and an in a rare bipartisan fashion put together in the House with input from Sec. Paulson. That bill was originally around $140 billion that would be funded by widening the budget deficit, which was bad enough. The Senate Democrats, however, subsequently pushed through their own version of the bill stuffed with earmarks for their pet projects and in an effort to pick up some votes in November. The business tax breaks that were to be offered in the Senate package were set aside as "green" rebates, and the tax "rebates" that they expanded amount to nothing more than welfare checks. A true "rebate" goes to the people who are paying the taxes. Should seniors and veterans be given some assistance? Yes, and that's not the argument here. The stimulus package is irresponsible without being paired with budget cuts. Secondly, it needs to be called a welfare package as that is what it truly is as well as a means for our politicians to remind voters they gave us tax breaks, and you better believe that this will appear in all types of commercials come this fall. I think Sec. Paulson put it best and I'll leave you with his thoughts:

"I am increasingly concerned that in the Senate, the bazaar
is open, the special interests are coming to the trough and
that when I'm reading about and hearing about things like tax
rebates for coal companies, the benefits for oil well drilling
and things like this, I'm concerned that it's going to get
bogged down," Paulson said.

Bush to Go On Pork Hunt

I'm not a big fan of the stimulus package, which equates to not much more than a short term stimulus that should help out right until election time which is basically just going to be something in which all incumbents will duly remind us. It gets even worse, and even more obscenely transparent when Harry "Defeatist" Reid, wants to make sure he slows down the process and go after some more votes and "add" to the stimulus...I mean deficit. It's pretty much a welfare package and not a true stimulus package as it's not going to increase savings incentives in the long run, nor will it reduce tax rates in the long run for both businesses and consumers, which actually would stimulate the economy through the power of the wage earners who actually drive the economy. However, there's a good silver lining here, and something that will be getting more and more play in the media for sure as the Left will be up in arms. Bush is going to go after earmarks via executive order. It's a great first step, and something that should have happened much earlier in his tenure, but it's still coming down the pike. Perhaps slashing the pork can fund most of the stimulus package, but I doubt it. It's a good move, and he has nothing to lose, it's within his power and there really can't be a challenge to it, and it may make for some great commercials when we see the Lefties in Congress crying about it. Still though, don't think for one second that the Dems are licking their chops at having control of the Legislative and Executive Branches, and the pork that will come as a result will make a Pig Slaughterhouse look like a vegan retreat. This election is of the utmost importance for the fiscal future of our nation. The last time the Dems were in that position was the Carter era...be afraid, be very afraid, if that were to happen.

Egypt Wants Nothing to Do With Hamas

It's funny how most anytime strife pops up in the Middle East that alot of nations go out of their way to blame Israel. Take the blockade that the Israelis have imposed on the Gaza Strip for example. Under steady rocket fire from Hamas militants that are aimed at innocent Israelis, Israel cracked down on the area and have taken to protecting themselves. Undoubtedly it has been tough on the Palestinians being held hostage by the Hamas radicals, there is no arguing that. However, what is Israel to do? Should they simply lie down and let Hamas shoot rockets at them any old time they want and murder innocent civilians who are INTENTIONALLY targeted by Hamas, who has a stated goal of driving the Israelis into the sea? Well, you all know by know that the wall that EGYPT had erected in order to help protect their nation's sovereignty from Hamas was illegal breached by the radicals, and Hamas militants had assaulted Egyptian soldiers during this high violation of international laws. Egypt has criticized Israel in the past for their stances with the Palestinians to be sure, but you'd think even a left wing organization like the MSM would be paying more attention to Egypt slapping Hamas in the face and wanting Abbas to take control of the situation. Not that Egypt has ever been solidly in Hamas's corner, but it is still a huge developing story in the Middle East. If peace is going to be achieved in the Middle East, Egypt and the moderates in both Palestinian Territories and Israel need to make moves, along with of course, Jordan. Egypt's smacking at Hamas is a great sign for the region and after having to deal with the illegality of Hamas's actions as well having a bit of a taste for the terrorist organization's tactics first hand, they may find a bit more common ground with Israel.

If there's one thing Ed Rendell loves that isn't named "The City of Philadelphia," it's named "Ed Rendell." In perhaps one of the most fitting stories about a politician, Ed Rendell has released a study giving himself all kinds of love on what he has "accomplished" in his five years in office, loaded with questionable numbers, and costing the tax payers at least $20,000 for him to toot his own horn. What a pompous, arrogant move. Irresponsible in every aspect, using tax payer money for what essentially amounts to campaign release for the Democrats while simultaneously stroking his own ego. Worst of all, it's egregiously exaggerated...then again, what else do you expect from the man? Let us not forget he threatened to......campaign against Republicans who oppose his wasteful spending proposal that is socialized health care in Pennsylvania. That's shocking. Good, bring it on Rendell. You're wasting a surplus, increasing spending dramatically, and your health care plan is a further assault on the free market, while banking and hoping that people increase their spending on tobacco products that you have spent enormous amounts of money on trying to get people to stop using whatsoever. What happens then, when PA goes tobacco free? How do you pay for it then? What do you do about the jobs you're going to cost and the all the other taxes you're going to raise? How does it feel to go around threatening people who disagree with you in fascist tactic? Pathetic.

USA Today's Pro-Illegal Immigration Stunningly Illustrated In A Single Article

It's laughable that in today's day and age, with the information that we have available at our fingertips, to both research reports as well as verify the validity of statements, that the MSM stubbornly keeps referring to themselves as "unbiased". The only network that really has legitimacy to claim that is Fox News, and yes, that has been verified. Liberals assail Fox for having the audacity to illustrate and report on more than just the vantage point that the Liberal elite has assumed. Today, the USA Today an article appear in their online journal entitled, "Rising Health Care Costs Put Focus on Illegal Immigrants," one of the most bias, pro-illegal immigration pieces I have read in quite some time. Here's some choice dissections for you:

"The phrase 'illegal immigrant' is just radioactive at the moment," says Leighton Ku, a health analyst at the liberal Center on Budget and Policy Priorities. "Efforts to provide additional benefits for the undocumented would be essentially perceived as adding fuel to the fire."

At least here, they are courteous enough to point out the fact that Ku is a liberal. "Illegal Immigrant" is not inflammatory, it's true. They are immigrants. They are illegally in this nation under our immigration policy and have thus broken the laws, hence they are illegal immigrants. Undocumented is inflammatory. It is a term designed to strip away the fact that these people are criminals, in violation of federal laws, and have shown an utter disrespect to legal immigrants as well as the American system in whole. You should also note that on the left hand side only 9% of American citizens are uninsured, which puts the number of uninsured American citizens in the range of about 27 million people, most of whom are getting government benefits to cover their insurance. A large number to be sure, but read the article to get an idea of how much of money illegal immigrants are syphoning from our taxes, contributing a gigantic amount to our deficit spending. Take special note of this gem:

Illegal immigrants can get emergency care through Medicaid, the federal-state program for the poor and people with disabilities.

Medicaid should be only for citizens of this nation and people who are here through legal means and following our laws. Illegal immigrants need to be deported and our laws need to be enforced. Pro-illegals are simply in a position where they don't care about federal laws and they are stating as much. I feel the same way about people who smoke marijuana and are SHOCKED when they get busted for it and the laws are enforced. There's always people who make excuses and give a sob story about their situation, but if you broke a law, you broke a law, you can't cry to anyone when you get nailed for it when you knew what you were doing was illegal.

Because most illegal immigrants are relatively young and healthy, they generally don't need as much health care treatment as U.S. citizens, studies show. But while they account for less than 2% of national medical spending, their growing presence is a problem in places such as eastern North Carolina, one of the nation's poorest areas.

So we're to expect that these un-named studies have been able to effectively reach out to illegal immigrants and test them for their health, and somehow that didn't cost anyone anything? There's lies a plenty in that statement, an absurd amount of garbage actually. Also notice, they point out the SPENDING, NOT THE COST. They are ducking their bills. Think about it, when you go to the hospital, the only way to really track you down is with your Social Security Number, if you don't have that or a valid (I mean OFFICIAL) government/state issued ID, how would they track you down? So sure, they are accounting for 2% of spending, the idea here is cost, and if the costs are way up and the hospitals are taking a loss, they have to make up for it somewhere, and costs to legal recipients of health insurance goes up.

The whole article is inflammatory and completely dishonest. They give some lip service to the positions that we who are right, and happen to be on the right, hold, but by and large, it is such a puff piece and pro-illegal immigrant article that it beyond blatant. However, I will leave you with this, and I'm sure you'll have the same reaction as I did.....:

Another Reason To Like Microsoft

For the record, I have the Zune, not the iPod. Microsoft products are great, they have done a wonderful job for the productivity both in people's personal lives and for businesses, and despite what those smug Apple commercials claim, unless you're turning your home movies into on screen productions, their computers are overpriced and based solely on pretentiousness. As far as the audio claim, yes, recording on Apples is very good, but it's not like Pro Tools isn't available for the PC...after it was only available on Apple for sometime. That should tell you about demand and consumer choice right there. The point of my little rant is to bring to your attention Microsoft's efforts to help government enter into the digital age....about 10 years after the mainstream of the American population has done. The entire article is very interesting and most definitely worth the read, but here's a teaser/highlight for you:

Microsoft will provide governments with "template" programs that let citizens perform tasks such as accessing public records, getting marriage certificates, and paying taxes or fines online.

"Technology can help local and regional governments fill efficiency gaps and modernize services," Jean-Philippe Courtois, president of Microsoft International, said in an address at the forum in Germany.

"But, many are ill-equipped to meet citizens' expectations due to a lack of funding, available technology, technical expertise or other resources."

Microsoft has spent years working with governments and distilled some of what it learned into templates showing governments how to spare people trips to offices and let them handle interactions online.

The irony of the situation of course, is that the government went after Microsoft for being so efficient and skilled at what they do during the trial some years ago that now the government, who is increasingly inefficient and unskilled that Microsoft still has the decency to jump in to help out the citizens of this great nation by providing the governments with some tools to actually be as efficient as a 16 year kid who sells something on EBay. It's quite sad that the government, on many levels, is so technologically and logically inept that a private company (which by the way has done great works of charity) whom the government attacked, has turned the other cheek and helped to bring about some modernization and efficiency that the elected officials have not been able to bring about. Then again, that's the free market at work for you and an example of a corporation taking it citizenship seriously and working towards developing a better world for everyone. That's why the free market is the best system in the world and a great example of why many on the left are completely wrong, on many levels, when they constantly assail the free market and corporations. It works, it makes life better, and yes, corporations do care about the people in the nation. So while some assail corporations for following the principles that make this nation great, keep in mind that these same corporations that are viciously assaulted, are the same ones that keep us employed, that allow us to grow our 401(k)s, and whose R&D constantly blazes a trail to brighter horizons. Microsoft has done not only that since their inception, but in this situation, but has further proved the greatness of our system.

PA State Democrats and Ed "If It Ain't Philly It Don't Mean Nothing To Me" Rendell About to Hose us Over...Again

It's amazing that this incredibly dishonest and underhanded group is in control of the government. I think I'm still a bit dumbfounded that Lynn Swann lost to Rendell in the last election, just to throw that out there. Of course, Rendell's political machine in Philadelphia, the only place the man cares about, is pretty much the only reason he won seeing as how it's the only thing he cares about. So a new round of elections are coming up and the Democrats in state Congress are gearing up to pull a fast one on the people of Pennsylvania. First, was this article, from Penn Live, which is special in that it shows just what "property tax relief" means to the Democrats:

Taking up a major promise to the voters, Democratic leaders in the state House plan to open debate today on a series of property tax measures.

Most of the bills are designed to shift the burden of school funding onto state income and sales taxes, allowing local property taxes to drop.

The principal plan advanced this week, sponsored by House Finance Committee Chairman Dave Levdansky, D-Allegheny, would raise the state sales tax to from 6 percent to 6.5 percent and increase the personal income tax rate from 3.07 percent to 3.29 percent.

Coupled with revenue from the state's taxes on casinos, Levdansky says, the plan would cut the statewide property tax burden by about $2.5 billion.

Democrats will reduce property taxes, which was supposed to be achieved by the revenues of the slots alone, ONLY if they RAISE TAXES on SALES TAX by 8.3%, and on PERSONAL INCOME TAX by 7.2%. Substantial increases. It is unforgivable for the legislature to do this. The property tax was going to be lowered through the increase in revenues from the slots. Instead, congressional Democrats have increased their spending by wide margins and will now raise the overall tax burden on Pennsylvanians.

Meanwhile, Rendell, is being dishonest by not fully disclosing the tax increases he wants in order to push through his socialized health care proposal, trying to spout off about decreasing spending, while he tries to initiate new spending projects backed by Liberal and Democratic interest groups while damaging the free market. Here's some meat from that article:

The Governor says approval can be done while still helping doctors pay for their medical malpractice insurance. He proposes to accomplish both by using available surpluses and combining them with other CAP funding sources. The Governor has called for an increase in the cigarette tax by 10- cents and the state's first ever tax on smokeless tobacco.

Now we're talking about increasing CIGARETTE TAXES and a NEW TAX ON SMOKELESS TOBACCO. Funny how Liberals go all drug dealer on smokers such as myself by saying how smoking is an addiction and the tobacco companies are predatory, all the while raising and raising tobacco taxes like a drug dealer would do to a drug addict. He also want to start to outlay money by helping doctors PAY MEDICAL MALPRACTICE INSURANCE. Cap the limits on lawsuits and the insurance costs will go down genius. Finally, he tops this all off by telling Pennsylvanians that, well, he's going to increase taxes even more in the near future and blow the state surplus instead of cutting taxes, and cutting spending which will help the economy and help bring much needed jobs into the state. Sure, he mentions he wants to cut spending, but, hey Ed, all these new spending proposals you are pushing through shows just how committed you are to that idea.

So to recap here's SOME of TAX INCREASES and SOME of INCREASED SPENDING state Democrats are pushing:

-Cigarette Tax
-Smokeless Tobacco Tax
-Socialized Health Care
-Medical Malpractice Insurance

Unless we rally in November, we are headed for financial disaster and a hemorrhaging of jobs. Rendell and the state Democrats are going to do serious, serious damage to this state and we must take a stand.

Clinton's Efforts to Disenfranchise Democratic Votes in Nevada? FAIL

It's not often you'll see me go to bat for Democrats on many issues, but the Clintons, the most notorious political crime family in American history, attempted to disenfranchise a large group of voters from being able to cast their votes because the Culinary Union had the gaul, the audacity, to not back her, but Barack "No Experience Needed" Obama in the caucuses. Here's the meat of the story:

The state teachers union went to court to challenge the plan, arguing that the casino caucus sites Saturday night will give the roughly 200,000 workers on the Las Vegas strip an unfair advantage over other voters who have to work that night.

But U.S. District Judge James Mahan rejected that argument after a Thursday morning hearing.

The lawsuit sparked a battle between the 28,000-member Nevada State Education Association and the state's biggest labor organization, the 60,000-member Nevada Culinary Workers Union, which supports the casino caucuses. The culinary workers endorsed Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois in Saturday's contest and accused the teachers union of trying to tilt the race in favor of his leading rival, senator and former first lady Hillary Clinton of New York.

Hillary has very strong ties to leaders of the Teachers Union, who of course, was backing her. There was no problem with the mobile caucus precincts at all....until the Culinary Union came out and backed her opponent. The Teachers Union immediately sues. It's insanely transparent that the Clintons orchestrated this. Just like the are orchestrating racial and gender overtures and having their minions try to label Obama as the cocaine candidate. Personally, the Democrats can have their moonbat candidates, I don't like either one of them. I can't stand the political crime family, and Obama is the most abortion...loving...candidate....ever. What I do care about is not letting the Clintons pull these stunts on the public, because they will do it again in the general election if she wins, and the Democrats will do it regardless, but just not as much, if she doesn't. Hillary's campaign of race baiting, gender baiting, illegal immigration pandering, back door deals, and crooked fundraisers are a microcosm of what this woman does and will do in the future. She needs to go. What's even funnier about this situation is that the Teachers Union had no right to bring the suit at all, complaining that the Culinary Works will get an unfair advantage by being able to caucus on their lunch breach on a Saturday? A Saturday? Uh, Teachers don't work on Saturdays, isn't that the unfair advantage? Even the Liberals over at the Nation aren't buying her antics:

At Least 37,200,000 Babies Murdered Since 1976

The Hippies and The Japanese Whalers

The saga is unfolding like a South Park episode. When I first read that the hippies had assaulted and attempted to go all pirate on one of the Japanese ships only to find themselves being tied up by the Japanese whalers, I chuckled. Do I want to see whales hunted down for no good reason? No. However, the Japanese have been doing this for various reasons ranging from cultural to scientific. Japan, whom I often refer to as our brother nation, is not going to hunt whales into extinction or anything nearly as close as the apocalyptic Envirofascists are claiming. They assaulted the Japanese and were subsequently help for their misdeeds.

I went from chuckle to all out laugh when I heard that today, the Japanese had offered the pirate hippies some food....whale meat:

The crew of a Japanese harpoon ship holding a British anti-whaling protester captive insist they are treating him well - and have even offered him a meal of whale meat.

Not everyone will see the humor in this, but for those who do, yes it's laugh out loud hysterical. Again, not because the whales have been killed, but the whole irony and developments in this story. What's more is that the Japanese are eating the whales, so it's not like they are doing what was done to the Buffalo back in the day. Of course, the hippies are all outraged and even dare to call the Japanese ship captain a "terrorist," a label they refuse to apply to an Islamic radical who blows himself up and kills innocent women and children because the hirabahist is "oppressed" and "poor" unlike the Japanese, who are civilized and modern. These two criminal hippies stormed a Japanese ship and are being detained for the protection of the crew, who even offered to share a hot meal with the eco-moonbats and yet they paint the Japanese as the bad guys? Kudos to the Japanese for not backing down the envirofascist doomsayers, something I really wish we would do more often here.

California Teenager Proposes Common Sense Bill That Should Get Overwhelming Support

In short, R.J. Feild won a contest in order to have a bill sponsored for consideration by the California legislature. His idea? Require welfare applicants to be drug testing in order to receive benefits. Completely rational and chock full of common sense, which in California will probably still be tough to pass. It's pure genius in its simplicity and I hope it extends to those still receiving benefits. I'd be damned to see my or anybody's tax dollars being abused in the first place, let alone for someone to be using drugs. The write up for this story is short, and what R.J. has had to deal with is gut wrenching, I'm posting the majority of the story, as there is not much more for me to ad other than to express that my heart goes out to him.

Benoit's "There Ought to Be a Law" contest with a 500-word essay about his own life — born at 2 pounds, 2 ounces with traces of heroin, methamphetamine, marijuana, cocaine and alcohol in his body, the paper reports.

"R.J.'s captivating story provided a clear reason why we need his law," Benoit, R-64th Dist., told The Desert Sun. ""I look forward to introducing 'R.J.'s Law' in this legislative session."

Guantanamo Update

Some good news came out on Friday that vindicated the United States Military with regard to Guantanamo Bay...again. A federal court ruled against four British terrorists who were being held at the Guantanamo Bay Facility. The US won on all counts:

The four British men also brought constitutional claims and claims under the Geneva Conventions and the Religious Freedom Restoration Act.

Rejecting all of the men's allegations, the appeals court overturned the only part of a lower court decision that hadn't already been dismissed. That was the alleged violation of the Religious Freedom Restoration Act.

"Because the plaintiffs are aliens and were located outside sovereign United States territory at the time their alleged RFRA claim arose, they do not fall with the definition of 'person,"' the court ruled. The law provides that the "government shall not substantially burden a person's exercise of religion."

This is precisely why it unwise to house these murderers within our borders. The criminals have been trained to claim torture and file false claims about their treatment and our military in general as a means to give them propaganda to use against us. In fact, going forward, after reviewing information on Jihad Watch, going forward I will refer to these terrorists by the proper term, hirabahists. The hirabahists aren't stupid, they know they have an ally in the American moonbat general population and the media as well, and if given access to the court systems they will perpetrate outrageous lies and stir their propaganda machine. MD, NJ, NY Governors Prove What Kind of Respect Democrats Hate for the Constitution

First, please familiarize with the spying and the drivers licence programs of which Elliot Spitzer (D-NY) is so fond. The guy is a political thug. Following the beat of Spitzer's drum in the chump Governor of New Jersey, Jon Corzine, who is doing his best to assault the laws and organization of this nation as well as completely abuse the common tax payer.

You'll remember my post about Corzine and the Democratic legislature usurping the power of democracy from the electorate of NJ by abolishing the death penalty while a sizable majority of the people support the death penalty in the state. He follows up that gem by strongly pushing his mind numbing skyrocket toll increases through his moonbat controlled legislature, be sure to take note of this:

The plan would raise tolls on the Jersey Turnpike and the Garden State Parkway by up to 50 percent four separate times from 2010 to 2022, for a potential fivefold hike; it also would put a toll on a road that's now free. All that on top of other hikes to adjust for inflation.

The money won't go to the state or to the Turnpike Authority. Instead, Corzine wants a new "public-benefit corporation" that would collect the tolls and run the roads under a decades-long contract with the authority.

Unbelievable. Not only would the tolls on the roads increase 500%, but the money wouldn't go to the STATE or the TURNPIKE AUTHORITY. It would go to a third party administration that would "invest in the state." This is completely asinine, this is why 49% of people NJ don't want to live there anymore. Corzine is trashing the state. Furthermore, Corzine and Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley have taken on an aggressive anti-Constitutional stance by attempting to overturn the Electoral College.

Apparently these guys don't quite understand that the one of the reasons we even have a Constitution is due to the Connecticut Compromise, which gave more say to the smaller states. Additionally, the electoral college continues this extremely important Constitutional provision by allowing small states a say in the election of the POTUS. Corzine and O'Malley have both passed bills meant to serve as a nationwide push to eliminate the electoral college system in their states in order to give all delegates to the national winner, and not the winner of their states' electoral choice for POTUS. It strips all power from the state and puts the small states at the mercy of the larger states. It is an attack on the very essence of our Constitution and Federalism. It's not something that should be overlooked. The Democrats are still mad the Constitution was followed when President Bush defeated Al Gore in 2000 and became engulfed in rage when President Bush defeated John Kerry in 2004. Apparently, they became so angry that they decided to do anything they could to destroy anything that reminded them of their failures, including deriding the constitution. Under a popular election vote, do you think any candidates will ever go to "Middle America", the area that the Liberals hate so much for voting against them in the last two elections? Essentially if you win NYC, LA, Miami, Dallas, Philly, and Detroit, you win the election. There would be little to no "get out to vote" efforts in the mainland and the Federal Government would become even more disconnected from the rural populations. It's exactly what almost prevented the Constitution from coming to fruition in the first place, and apparently something the Democrats care nothing about as they are attempting to run this course again.

Of course O'Malley is now trying to push through his proposal to give illegal immigrants drivers licenses in Maryland, under the guise of being in compliance with the REAL ID coming to fruition. Keep in mind that the state would give legal documentation to illegal immigrants instead of enforcing the law and deporting them as should be the case. Liberals constantly try to paint the GOP as racist, but remember, illegal immigration and legal immigration are not the same thing. You would give benefits and documentation to legal immigrants. Illegal immigrants you document only when you send them back to their country of origin. It is a blatant violation of federal law, law and order, and society in general to reward criminals, which is exactly what the Democrats are attempting to do. By following down this path, the Constitution is further diminished. The madness needs to stop and it needs to stop now.

How Clinton Won New Hampshire?

I just want to raise this to everyone's attention.

1. Hillary Clinton had been busing in out of state supporters into New Hampshire from at least January 6th, according to the Washington Times.

2. Dems typically commit voter fraud at least once an election cycle, and you can refer to the post immediately below this one about IDs not being required to prove who you are at polling stations.

Just a thought, but if Clinton had bused in large numbers of supporters from out of state and if they just so happened to feel like voting illegally they'd have provided a sizable boost for Clinton in order to fend off Obama. I'm not a conspiracy theorist, I'm just saying....

Why Don't Democrats Want Voters to Show ID?

You would think it's a no brainer that an individual who identifies himself as being Mr. X would have to prove they are, in fact, Mr. X. It's a pretty logical, and basic assumption. Then again, it's hardened Moonbats we are talking about here, and nothing is ever basic, easy, or logical with them. According to the hardened Liberal, having to show an ID is a violation of an individual's rights, and under no circumstances, ever, must you have to prove who you are in order to vote, even going so far as to the Supreme Court in order stop people from having to prove who they are. Does this make any logical sense at all?

They claim that this unfairly disenfranchises people, which is preposterous. People could get ID cards from any state institution or verifying place such as a bus station. Now should you have to show ID in a town of 50 people where everyone knows each other? No, of course not. However, if you live in a large setting where a great deal of people live and not everyone is on a first name basis, then yes, you should. Now why wouldn't Democrats want people to identify who they are in largely populated areas where they have a majority of registered voters where only about 40% of the people registered to vote actually show up to vote; and with multiple polling locations where workers wouldn't recognize them at the next station should they choose to wander over to a second or third location and simply say they are another person? Hmmmm....

Investors Fear a Democrat Victory

Indeed, Wall Street is worried about the upcoming elections. Though the article unfairly takes some swipes at Gov. Huckabee for being "a loose canon" and comparing him in some regards to, ugh, John Edwards (which is incredibly unfair to any human being), it underscores a point that most people with any level of economics already knows: Democrats will hurt the economy. Arguments will come from the left that the 90s saw unprecedented growth, which, indeed it did, under the supervision of a Republican Congress, who was able to overcome many of the shortcomings of Bill Clinton. The economy is taking a beating in the liberal media, as I suppose they figure that if they can't lie to the American public about Iraq anymore, the economy should be the next target. We are no where near a recession, we have not had a single quarter of negative GDP growth and will not have one this quarter either. It's a lie.

The Congressional Democrats are all protectionist, tax loving, economy killing Liberals who will most certainly cause a recession unlike anything seen before if a Democrat is election President. Yes, it will be worse than Jimmy Carter's time in office. This batch of Democrats don't even have morals, let alone any shame, and their policies will nearly cripple businesses as they scramble to readjust. I know the prospects for a Democratic Congress are very likely, which is why this presidential election is so immensely important. We need someone in their who can wield a veto pen like crazy, and I believe our batch of candidates will be willing and able to do so. As taxes increase, it is we, the electorate who will feel the burden, as the cost of the tax increases will be passed along to us. The bottom line in capitalism is profits and industries will not simply take a loss when Congress slaps them with taxes in addition to personal tax raises. The industries will in turn, reflect these tax increases in the prices that we pay for our goods, thus causing the inflation tax. Additionally, taking hostile steps against the world community by threatening tariffs and isolationism, will not bode well for American products or the strength of our dollar and reflect no confidence in American manufacturing products, skills, et al. Incredibly, the Democrats villanize companies and the profits they make and demand that their profits fall and that the revenues are shifted to the government, not individuals mind you, all in the name of helping the average person without actually helping the average person. It is outrageous that all the while ravaging the free market and corporations, that the Democrats are so horribly dishonest or stupid as to not realize that pensions are a dinosaur and that our retirement funding is only as dependable as our 401(k)s and not Social Security, which they have horribly mismanaged for decades. Indeed, when corporations do well, we ALL do well, since our retirement portfolios, at minimum, increase over time. The Liberal system promotes an economic slavery of sorts, one in which they boo-hoo the power of the individuals to keep their own money and grow it in the free market with security in the 401(k), and attempt to strip us all of the ability and opportunity to see a windfall in the free market. The Social Security system is horribly broken and will only be "fixed" by Democrats with yet another tax hike that will lower disposable income, which lowers consumer expenditure and lower the value of the market. I could write scores of volumes on these issues, but I suppose it's best to stop here for now.

I'm sure part of it has to do with her having no experience or achievements to speak of, nor any logical understanding of what an economy even is. Not even a peep of criticism. Being a MSM article though, you know who they are pulling for, so that's not hard to figure out why.
